The most fun. I really loved reading this, and have since recommended it to countless people in my life. I have been giving it gifts a few years running and loaning out my threadbare copy.

would be 5 stars but the ending was so crammed full of stuff. It felt like the author had water boiling and had to crank out the last 12 pages before his house caught on fire.
This is a fantastic book. Stay with it, it's True Grit with a lot to say about human nature and brothers.
It was a quick and entertaining read, but the characters were not sympathetic or easy to relate to. I'm not sure why this book won so many awards, as there didn't seem to be a lot of depth to it.

I enjoyed this book more than expected. I thought the narrator was compelling and the story kept me guessing. There was enough complexity in some characters that it made up for a few flat ones who passed through. An unexpectedly entertaining western with a quirkiness that works.
