Great book. She's an amazing writer who made me feel both enraged and enpowered. I can't wait to take on the world with no apologies.

I keep seeing Shrill pop up on my TV but haven't been able to bring myself to give it a shot. I think it's the title. I'm not a fan of shrillness, even when I can embody it at times.

Luckily, I am a fan of my library and their audiobook collection. And that's how I can to listen to this great memoir by Lindy West, someone I don't remember ever hearing of before. I'm glad to have learned about her and count myself as a fan now, even though there was no shrillness in her narration.

Oh my gosh, this was so good! I didn't know what to expect before listening to the audiobook. This is such a well written book. Her personality and truth shine through.

This book does contain strong language and content that may be NSFW - unless you have an office where no one can hear your audiobooks.

Easily my new favorite book from a modern feminist writer. West's writing is not only accessible and entertaining, but it's also fucking ORIGINAL. The stories I knew, the academia I've chewed over a thousand times since college - it all felt new and refreshing, like taking a continuing education course and going, "Oh shit, I knew there was a reason these are required in order for me to keep my license to practice feminism!"

I laughed, I cried (no, really - you will, too), I raged, I conspicuously thrust my nose in the air when a guy across from me on the train gave me side-eye after reading the book's subtitle... this book did it all! A hearty five stars for this inspiring work.

this book is so important and i want every single human person to read it. I LOVED IT. lindy is so hilarious, so smart and so articulate. i know that's not super helpful as a review but this book really just flew by for me and had me in tears of both joy and sadness. <3 <3

I couldn’t even finish this book. I skipped and skimmed to the end. Literal 0 stars very crude & did not find any depth to this book at all. I prefer to leave some positive constructive feedback in reviews but this one is a hard no.

As a fat girl, this book made me cry and feel things I needed someone to tell me they felt too. I needed this book and I think every single girl does too no matter their size. I truly have no words for how incredible this book was and how inspiring it was. Life is hard and it's messy, but we push forward. We push onward and keep going. We don't let people tell us our worth we determine that ourselves. I am so in love with this book.
