I think the problem is how much I loved book 1. I hated this. It dragged and was so hard for me to pick up and keep reading. I really don't care at all about Eli and just wanted to hear about Cali and mendax.

“Now the words villain and hero were growing unclear. I started to wonder if maybe we were all just people trying to do our best, the best way we knew how, with what we were equipped with.”

This was an easy end to an often dark series, this was definitely the most light hearted of the series and I’m really glad I finished them. 

Eli was often a tough one to root for but Anna made up for it. 😍

Disappointed with the ending to the series. 

The writing and editing were subpar and maybe rushed? The plot was entirely primarily focused on Eli and not on Cal and Mendax is a way that felt like as smooth a transition as it could have been.

The flow from scene to scene was choppy.
