Frankie is the "I rather have guy friends than girl friends" type of girl because she thinks girls can't be "cool enough". That's the vibe I get from this book specially after reading the last chapters.
She's really obsessed with getting any kind of validation from Alfa's group of friends, isn't she? which, I think, may be the real point of the book after all — that you don't need anyone or any group to validate your intelligence or how capable of whatever you are — but I wish the narrative had been written in other directions.
She wanted so bad some kind of validation from her boyfriend that wasn't even interested in her life in the first place. Frankie was mad at him for not telling her about something he was doing with long time friends and way before they even met. They knew each other for three months and she wanted to be included in everything for, again, validation and that feeling of "belonging". But she didn't tell Trish — her best friend supposedly — about what she was up to. It feels like a boy was more important than her friend. Being part of that group was more important than anything she had before because it wasn't "cool enough".

Definitely has a lot of older ideas of feminism, specifically white feminism. The ending of this definitely didn't have a satisfactory conclusion and I don't think it fulfilled what the author and the plot summary of this book hinted at it doing. I don't even think the main character really learned a lesson from what she did. But still this was an okay book and was amusing to read.
Book 3 of reading the books on my tbr the longest.

I wish it went into more detail, and I wish the characters were more multifaceted. But overall, it was a fun, compelling read.
Very quick, engrossing read. Interesting reading from a kind of morally ambiguous character, very Slytherin with her ambitions and cunning and resourcefulness and her outspokenness. Appreciate the MC's willingness to 'open doors rather than shut them' and her drive. Her impact didn't seem great on Matthew though, I REALLY liked the email from Alpha complimenting her that showed that she had made a difference however Matthew I really don't like (were we meant to?) the fact that he really didn't change or learn from everything that happened, solidified by his decision to 'play golf' at the end of the book frustrated me. It is realistic though.

This made me miss Harvard immensely - my old critical theory and feminist study days. Oh Foucault, I didn't think we'd meet again outside the ivory tower! It also made the former young activist inside me all riled up over the same issues that apparently still hold relevance.
A complicated, hilarious and fantastically paced romp that accomplishes what Prep's heroine couldn't. I relate to the protagonist so deeply and heartbreakingly.

This book was highly recommend to me, and rightfully so. It is a fun, quick story that kept me entertained and piqued my interest in another author: PG Morehouse, of course. The story is of a high school girl struggling to fit in, but not in the usual way i.e. trying to change herself to be what others expect. No, not Frankie; she tries to change the rules to make herself fit in as she is.
