This is a book with a lot of angst and drama and if that is your thing, you will probably love this one! For me the best character was Ashley, he was real, flawed and sweet which I loved. Callie grew on me, in the beginning I wasn't a fan because she is a huge ball of angst but towards the end I think she grew and her character became much more like able. I also loved the relationship she formed with her elderly neighbor, it was sweet and honest. If this book had a few less coincidences I probably would have been able to get on board but NO ONE ever has a weekly run in with the fire department... or at least I hope no one does. Besides the drama, this book was sexy and funny.
The narration was good too.

I first found Kacey on TikTok when I was (somewhat guiltily) looking for hot firefighter romance stories, but not necessarily ones where the firefighter saves the girls life. Caught in the Flames did not disappoint! I read this book in one day because I just could not put it down.
First, our main girl Callie. Talk about a great character. I felt like I was there next to her, feeling the same emotions alongside with her. She just felt so real and so did her interactions with the men and her friends (whom I also loved and can't wait to read about next).
Chase Matthews, talk about wow. I loved him right away and to avoid spoilers I am just going to leave it at that. Now Ashe on the other hand, he came out of nowhere but I fell for him just as hard.
But who stole the show for me was Kiki, this old woman who takes Callie in and teachers her so many life lessons! I aspire to be like her when I grow up, honest to God.
If you too LOVE hot, tattooed, protective men. I beg you to read this series!

I thoroughly enjoyed this steamy book. Callie at first was kind of annoying but then I grew to like her. She has awesome friends & I can’t wait to read their books. This book has steam & lots of emotions.
At the start I was loving this then I wasn’t sure and then halfway through, we got Ash, he saved the story for me. Him and Kiki ,it’s a good read but a bit less focus on chase and more on ash would have been better
I don't know what I was expecting of this book but it definitely wasn't what I read and I mean this in the most wonderful way. I went through a lot of emotions with the story I laughed a lot, I shed a few tears, I was surprised with a few unexpected twists in the story, I got pissed off a few times and I swear if I read "You're the best, Callie" one more time there was a high probability that my kindle was going to fly out the window. Thankfully I didn't read it again so my kindle is safe and sound.
All in all I really enjoy the story... Now I would love to know if there will be something more between Jill & Cam?

A fun, HOTT (in many ways) read! The story went somewhere I didn't expect it. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil it for readers.
This was my second book by this author and she has great character development, even though some of them make me want to kill them - but that's the point, you're not supposed to 'like' all of them all of the time. Kiki was my favorite character.

Standalone Story.
Callie Gordon is moving into her new house when the firemen from down the road show up to help out. Callie is immediately smitten with fire captain, Chase Matthews. Chase says all the right things and treats Callie like a princess. However, he has a few secrets that he refuses to share. Talk of his family is off limits and when Callie asks questions, he distracts her with kisses. Everything changes one night at a bar.
If you're looking for a book that throws a twist at you in the middle of the book that completely redeems the story, this is the book for you!
*Trust me. Even though you can't imagine a happy ending after the things Callie has gone through, stick it out. It will be worth it.

Spoiler
When Callie finds Chase making out with her best friend, she cannot forgive and forget. However, when her house is burning down, Callie meets another fireman. She swore she wouldn't fall for another fire fighter, but Ash becomes her best friend. Maybe she can find love after Chase. If you're looking for a book that throws a twist at you in the middle of the book that completely redeems the story, this is the book for you!

When I read the blurb of Caught in the Flames I was expecting a super-hot firefighter romp and I got that, but I got so much more too. This was my first Kacey Shea book and I am so glad I took a chance on a new author. It was hot, hot, hot! I needed a fireman to come hose me off after this one. The added mystery/suspense aspect was an added bonus that kept me engaged and intrigued throughout the story. She definitely added her own spin to this trope.
I don’t want to go into too much detail because I don’t want to give anything away, but this book surprised me in the amount of feels that I went through. I was expecting an easy read that was going to require me to fan myself. And yes, at times I needed to fan myself. Shea is an expert at describing things. At times I could picture things so well in my mind I felt like I was right there watching them. But I also went through anger, frustration, heartache, humor, tears, etc.
I found myself rooting for Callie throughout this book. I wanted her to succeed—in her career, in love, in friendship. The side characters are all great too. They all add a little spice to the mix. I especially fell in love with Kiki. I want a Kiki novel, can we please get a Kiki novel?

Caught in the flames by Kacey Shea is a contemporary romance involving hot firefighters, best friends and life events.
This was a true heartfelt, emotional rollercoaster with some very real characters and easily absorbed storyline.
Initially Callie got on my nerves as a little too high maintenance and naive but as she grew in the story, I too grew to love her and her passion and her loyalty to her friends. Chase was intense, and pivotal to the story. Ash was a great source of humour, banter and angst and a great balance to Callie. And I loved everything about Kiki. All remaining characters, I felt were well thought out and served a purpose and the whole cast became very relatable. Kacey drops just enough hints into the characters personalities that makes you want to read more about them.
I loved the mix of sweet romance, sense of homour, confronting life lessons and vengeful suspense that Kacey brought to life in this story. I laughed out loud, shed some tears and got caught up in the story and I'm secretly hoping for more from these fire stations and group of friends.
