Thoughts: Not a huge fan of the blurb, man was that misleading. Chase was a major douche. I almost, A L M O S T want to read the rest of this series but these characters were too much of a hot mess for me. Ash and Kiki were the only redeeming characters in this book for me.

This is a shortened version of the review I published on my blog LovelyAudiobooks.info.

Kacey Shea lets us accompany her heroine through the struggles of being 22 and building up her personal and professional life.

The story is wonderful and captivating and I greatly enjoyed it. It is told in a diary-like style that flowed very nicely. Callie is a quirky and likeable person. Not everything she does or says is perfect or right. But it only makes her feel human and real to me. I admit, I kind of wish I had a friend like her. If only to have someone who understands that brain farts don’t necessarily mean that you’re ditzy.

This is kind of important to mention: I have no patience for stupid heroines. Callie does one majorly stupid thing right in the beginning, foreshadowing the turn her story takes after the first half of the book. She runs into a burning building to get a bra. Unforgivable, you say? Not really. I could forgive her for it. She has mild OCD and when one is standing in front of their burning house, one might feel kind of stressed. That can exacerbate symptoms. Her thought process and reasoning why it would be fine (e.g. that the bedroom is far away from the burning part), worked. And had she not stumbled, everything would have worked out. Yep, Kacey Shea literally tripped poor Callie up there!

Savannah Peachwood is a fantastic narrator. This was my first time listening to her but she’s a seasoned Romance narrator. She has a great array of voices and she transports Callie’s emotions so well. She pulled me right in and I enjoyed this audiobook so much!

This book is definitely a recommendation. It's a captivating, emotional story and the audiobook production is absolutely top-notch.

Kacey Shea’s next, Caught In the Flames is about Callie who just moved in near a fire station and is surrounded by firefighters, hot, sweaty men who love to play football in all their shirtless glory. One of the firefighter is Chase and sparks fly. Chase asks her out and then the story begins. After dating for a bit, Chase and Callie break up due to a vindictive woman.

I was confused, as I thought the hero was Chase since thats whats on the blurb. But Ash comes into Callie’s life and gives the HEA she needs. I feel like the blurb should name the hero, Ash also, because I was immensely confused for half of the novel.

The story didn't captivate me as much. I wasn't hooked and sometimes I, really, struggled to finish the novel. The writing is good so thats what made me forge on, but the dialogue between the ladies often fell too teenager-ish.

My main gripe is I thought Chase was the hero. I’m all for love triangles but I have to know about it because all through the novel, I’m keep thinking that she and Ash are going to break up and she's going to go for Chase because he’s mentioned in the blurb.

Caught in the Flames is a story of young love full of angst and emotions. Callie and Chase - heart wrenching and sizzling. Characters I once loved, I'm now SMH. The story keeps you guessing, and just when you think you can breathe, another twist occurs. This book is rich in content and drama! Loved it!

This books was something so she went from loving head of heels with chase to angry hate chase.

Then to wanting a relationship with Ash.

So did she really just cut off Chase off.

And a disappointing best friend in Alicia

This is a wonderful and sometimes maddening story. I loved some of these characters...then just as easily hated like really hated a few of them. As you can see this takes you on a roller coaster of emotion. I won’t tell you which characters I learned to hate or despise. Because remember....I liked them at the beginning.

Callie was great! I loved her “I love firemen” ideas. She has wonderful friends. Jill and Alisha met Callie in college and have been besties ever since. Their group texting is hilarious! Plus all the times they hang out together is fun too. Kiki is an eccentric older lady. She is as full of tattoos and she is stories. I really enjoyed her attitude, thoughts and friendship to the characters. The fire boys are something else. They have the hot bods and the six or eight pack as well as that V thing going on. They are devious, smarmy and sexy. This really gave me a different look into the whole firefighter thing.

This is my first book by this author. I was drawn in by the fun and charismatic characters. As well as saddened by all they went through. Savannah Peachwood, as narrator, did an AMAZING job! She had all the perfect inflections in her voice. It made listening to this really fun.

Kacey never disappoints when it comes to delivering a fantastic book and 'Caught In The Flames' was no different.
Hooked from the very beginning this is one book that will have you laughing out loud one minute and cursing to high heaven the next.

It took a turn I was really not expecting and Kacey kept adding fuel to the fire just as you thought you'd worked it all out.

The characters, for the most part were everything you'd want. Plus there's firefighters...who doesn't love firefighters??

I love Kacey's writing and her absolute to get you so absorbed into the book that you end up reading it in one sitting.

And the little note you left at the end...I really can't wait.

...... I wish I didn't read this in all honesty.

I don't even know what to say.

Callie was probably one of my least favourite characters I've ever read. She was so annoying? at first? Like I just couldn't stand her way of thinking. I read the synopsis of this book and was like dope, a book about a woman who loves hot firefighters, same girl. But the more I read into this and the further I got into the story, the more she pissed me off. She had 0 backbone until she was forced to have one, she was dropping "love" like nobody's business when she and Chase hadn't even been dating for long? and she jumped to conclusions SO OFTEN. Literally, three of my least favourite characteristics in a character and she nailed them one by one. So... sorry Callie, but even by the end, you pissed me off.

Next, I hated the structure of this. Chase was irrelevant. Honest to god, his storyline was actually pointless. When Ash is introduced at the halfway point pretty much, I thought... no. He's just a distraction. There's no way this will shift. BUT LOW AND BEHOLD... IT SHIFTED. And once again we found ourselves in a repeat cycle of what happened with Chase. I didn't like it the first time, I sure as shit didn't like it the second time.

I have a problem with characters who don't speak up for themselves. I really just hate that Callie sat there and cried about all of her problems and did nothing about it. You don't have to confront anyone... but this girl just cried her life away when shit went down. It drove me up the wall. ALSO, ARE WE GOING TO JUST IGNORE WHAT TIFF DID TO ALICIA?

I can't keep talking about this. I'm actually mad that I didn't like this because I was on such a roll with great romance reads. This let me down so hard.... UGGH

I'M SO MAD.

IT'S NOT EVEN A BIG DEAL BUT LIKE UGGHHHHH SO MAD.

Anyways, I'm done yelling. I'm going to go. The take home from this is that the main character is annoying, there's a character that serves no real purpose really... like what he offers could just be rewritten into other characters, there's insta-love, and honestly, I felt like things were missing that would've made things clearer or something?

I was a little unsure about this book at about halfway through... but I ended up really liking it.

I thought Callie seemed pretty superficial for a while, spending hours doing her hair and makeup and getting ready for a date. But she ended up being a little better than I thought once she chilled out about that.

I was a little unsure for a while, I hate a
cheating trope
but it turned out that it ended well. It really was a plot twist that I didn't see coming.

There were some really funny moments and some really sad moments. I do plan on continuing this series though.
