I was concerned that with such a short book the character development would be lacking but it was actually quite good..

A stand-alone novel about a hitman with dark, ironic humor and laments on love and death.

This was no Harry Hole novel; however, I did really love the ending - totally caught me by surprise and that doesn't happen very often. It was a quick read and enjoyable but not as complex as Nesbo's other novels.

This was my first Jo Nesbø book and although it wasn't a bad experience, it was certainly not what I was expecting from a Scandinavian thriller.
The story is pretty straightforward and short, and I think that works to a detriment here. The characters were not very three-dimensional and there was very little suspense or tension.
It was a quick, easy read and kind of fun. I probably won't pick up another Nesbø book for a long time after this, but I am happy to have given this writer a shot.

Not really my genre. It was short, which was nice. Patti Smith was the narrator, which I thought was interesting as the protagonist was male. But it was a little distracting because I was more interested in the sound of her voice that the words she was saying.

This book was much too depressing for me. I listened and the narration was so flat. I think it was meant to be that way but it was off putting for me.

I wasn't sure I liked this as I began reading. The voice is so different from Harry Hole series. Once I got into the rhythm of the story, it became a page turner. Nesbo always surprises.

Jens Lapidus wrote some crime stories with another viewpoint, the one from the criminal, which I found very refreshing, and now my favorite author did this as well, in a beautiful way. It's a short story that changes over time. A real Nesbø in my opinion... it says #1 luckily.
