Blood on Snow

This is a quick read about a hit man who decides not to kill a woman he's been hired to kill, and the consequences of that decision. The book has an absolutely lovely and devastating ending - even though you can see at least one aspect of the ending coming a mile away (but I will not talk about it because to do so would spoil it). It's not my favorite of Nesbo's books (I prefer his Harry Hole series), but this was a good, quick beach read. Even with a toddler and zero time to really read, I finished it in two sittings.

I mean this as a compliment - typical Nesbo - a hurt, flawed character and things aren't tidy. My gripe, however, is with the physical size and layout of the book itself - very difficult to get a good hold on it due to its size.

Not so good. At least it was short.

First time reading anything by Nesbo. This was intriguing, but probably would've been much better if it'd been longer. It's fairly typical as you can pretty much figure out what the "twist" will be fairly early. However, that last chapter... I'm going to have to listen to the last chapter again because I don't think I'm quite gleaning what I should be from it.

This book felt amateurish and disorganized. My least favorite Jo Nesbo book I have read so far. I feel like he can do better.

I liked the book overall. *Listened to the audio* The narrator was dull and I did find Olav to be annoying and he kept repeating information about himself. The plot of the book was good. Murder, love, and betrayal, what more can a gal ask for? The book also has some funny parts, it will get some heads rolling *wink, wink. I wasn't thrilled with the ending, makes me hope we get to see what Corina has coming to her in the second book.

Blood on Snow starts well, with a few twists and turns and a anti-hero protagonist who is just intriguing enough to not be an instant turn-off.

Unfortunately the story lacked enough depth to keep my interest. At a mere novella length the story begins with tension and resolves somewhat blandly. It almost felt like Nesbo ran out of characters and plot to keep the story exciting rather than the story actually resolving well.

I'm usually a huge fan of Nesbo works, but I won't be pursuing the rest of this series.

a little too dark and sparse for my taste, but well written
