dark medium-paced

First thriller I've read in a while and first time I've picked up one of the Jo Nesbo novels that I own, and I was not disappointed. Unique little narrator, kept you guessing at all times and didn't see the wood through the trees at the end. Lovely little hooks throughout. Exactly what I wanted from a short, pacey commuter thriller. (We're not snobs here, I started out on James Patterson, no one's an angel)

This book was good. Tight crime thriller. A few touching characters.

I got this novel because the title called to me but I didn't know really what to expect. The unreliable narration kept me on my toes and the odd, twisted plot was so intriguing. There's always something special about falling into a book when you haven't ever heard of it before. Jo Nesbø seems to be a pretty popular author in crime fiction though so I guess the only I don't know about him is because I tend to rotate my reading world around YA. I did enjoy this novel so I will be looking for his name at the library again!

This novel was faced-paced and full of unexpected turns. It was short and easy to read even with the heavy subject matter because of the easy and casual writing. You didn't become the protagonist but i felt like he was speaking to you directly which was nice.

I look forward for finding more gems like this one in the new year!
dark emotional mysterious reflective tense fast-paced

I've heard of so many people loving Jo Nesbo books so I was really excited to pick this up!

The whole book reminded me of The Killing Eve series by Luke Jennings, I found that the main character was similar to Villanelle is some respect.

The kind of main character that you know isn't a very good person at all, yet you're still kind of rooting for them?!

The book was really fast-paced and the plot was really interesting. I would really love to read more Jo Nesbo books in the future as he's a very talented writer!!

The whole book was really atmospheric and because the narrator was untrustworthy, I felt really tense the whole time that I was reading it.

The ending was not what I was expecting at all but I found after I'd finished the book and thought about it, it really did make a lot of sense and was a very clever way to end the story -  I was thinking about it for days afterwards!

4.5 *

Ако имах лична класация с книжни номинации, този кратък роман определено нямаше да има конкуренция в категорията “Изненада на годината”. Много ми хареса!

Disappointing read. Not up to Nesbo's usual standard

In "Blood on Snow" we're following a contract killer, Olav Johansen. The book is written from his POV which I absolutely loved because Olav, in my opinion, has quite an interesting mind and I loved that we got to see his thoughts and inner monologues.

Olav is not your regular killer though, he seems to be quite gentle and soft. He hates violence against women, he falls in love easily and is hopelessly romantic. On several occasions he mentioned how he's "stupid" because he's bad at math and slow with letters etc. which is actually due to him being dyslexic. However, he loves to read and loves to make up stories. He seems quite adorable for a contract killer, right?

While I loved Olav as a character I found the book to be quite naive and simple, not really the best of Nesbø's works. But I think that's die to book being written from Olav's POV and he's sort of like that.

It's a very short and quick read, page turning and fun. I've read it in one afternoon. All in all, I loved it. In just 200 pages Nesbø managed to get me to care about a fucking contract killer! What?!

There were several twist that I did not see coming and some straight up reminded me how cruel Nesbø can be. As I've said, not the best of his books because it lacked the usual intensity I love about his books but I still found it quite enjoyable.
