Huge disappointment. I love the Harry Hole novels, but this was simply awful. The only good thing I can say is that it is entirely forgettable.
I quite liked Nesbo's The Son, but I was really underwhelmed by Blood on Snow.
A short, tight thriller unlike anything of Jo Nesbo's I have read before. This isn't a crime novel as such. There are no detectives, no investigation. Instead, a contract killer who makes the fatal mistake of falling in love with one of his targets. By the end you actually feel sorry for the assassin.
Oof Nesbø. This was not up to par with your other books. Sincerely hope people don't think this is what his writing is usually like. If you're going to read one of his books, stick with Harry Hole or The Son.
The storytelling, characters, descriptions, dialogues and whole action somehow reminded me of Quentin Tarantino movies. Also, quite broken, disturbed, psychotic characters seems to be Nesbo forte. I liked Olav, the main character, the'fixer' who falls in love too easily, which also seems to be his biggest weakness.
I would not say the book is among my favorites but I definitely enjoyed all aspects of it. I can move on to part 2 now.

Am I weird if I say "a cute little book"? I basically read this in one sitting, and found it a fun and refreshing read. It's not your typical nordic crime novel. This one is from the perspective of a bad guy - or is he not so bad after all? You end up sympatizing with him and rooting for him.
Recommended if you want something different that involved murder, crime and action!

Liked the first 50 pages of the book then stopped giving a shit honestly.
It was an "Okay" read.

This is a gripping read about a Hit Man Olav who instead of fixing the wife of his Boss does away with her lover with massive consequences for him. The body count mounts up as Olav explains his situation as an unreliable narrator and to get himself out of the mess he is in. The action takes place just before Christmas in Norway and there is a sense of coldness throughout, mirroring how Olav dispatches his victims. The story has alternative endings which you believe is up to the reader, but would you trust Olav? I had no empathy for him but non the less Nesbo created a brilliant character.

He could have had a normal life; he was gifted in a way. But his first murder prevented him from leading an ordinary life. Now, he is a fixer, a person who fixes problem, i.e. he is a killer. His next job is to end his boss’ wife’s life. However, he falls in love with her and assassinates her lover – his boss’ son. This means war and only one can survive.
Jo Nesbo’s new series starts in a very promising way. Told with a first person narrator we are from the beginning on the murderer’s side which is rather atypical since normally we, as the readers, like to go with the good guys. Nevertheless, he is sympathetic and has some very charming traits albeit he is rather singular in his manners and character. This very unusual protagonist with the very plain name “Olav” promises a lot which remains to be fulfilled in the sequels.
