I just finished this one in one night and I will be probably regretting in the morning
More plot than in the 1st, sometimes a bit long, but it was good still
And the ending?!OMG.
I’am a but pissed at Nick as he was the one to talk about trust but….

Anyway I’am hooked and will jump to the last one later on!

The story is heating up but I still can't believe how slow to trust Avery is. I'm wondering how the series will end. The only piece of the puzzle left is what will happen to Avery's mom and how is Nick going to save the day!

ARC for honest review... I love this author. It did not take but seconds for me to be drawn back into Dominic Baine's world. So freaking hot!

Avery's fear of her stepbrother is palpable. Her fear of losing Nick is so real you feel it for her. Her love for her mother, and Nick's offer to try and help her makes his character seem so noble. Even when you feel Nick's self worth is in the gutter, or mixed in with his driving need to succeed at all costs, his need to help and save Avery colors every decision.

Then of course we have more secrets and threats when Rodney busts back into the scene. The lies she feels is going to break them. You want to shout at her to just tell him!

I was totally ambushed by the twists and turns at the end of this book. This cliffhanger had me in shock! I did not see that coming. The minute I thought I could breathe! Wow just wow! This was a good one!

SO THAT JUST HAPPENED…Ok… So for most of the book everything was pretty straight forward romantic erotic drama. Then at the end there’s a HUGE switch-a-roo! But I’m getting ahead of myself a bit here…

It’s been quite a while since I read the first book of this trilogy, For 100 Days, and I’ll admit that I had forgotten much of the minutia of the plot. Like, I still had the gist of what went down and I also re-read my review and that helped to get in back into For 100 Nights. Some of my observations stayed the same as in Avery has pretty decent self-esteem and she and Nick spend a vast majority of the time screwing each other’s brains out. That being said, I think I’m going to take back almost everything else I originally said. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but it’s true nonetheless.

“I’m not a good man, Avery. But I am the one who loves you.”

I think the main thing that changed for me was how I thought about Nick. Before I thought he was a bit high handed but still let Avery live her life. He definitely had a guiding hand but he wasn’t overbearingly controlling and demanding. I don’t really feel that way anymore. Nick was acting… different. He seemed so desperate for Avery that she became more of an obsession than a partner which led to various controlling behaviors that I’m not going to go into because spoilers. While I hate controlling alpha males, I have to admit that the “obsession” dynamic was an interesting and compelling choice. Playing off the desperate fascination between Nick and Avery allowed for a more multifaceted relationship to develop adding dimension to something that’s usually fairly flat in similar novels.

“… the broken parts of me recognize the fractures in him, even if he hasn’t permitted me close enough to touch them yet.”

Avery and Nick have a relationship that is burning bright and quick yet seems incredibly fragile and destined to burn out like most things that burn bright and fast. It made the drama more compelling knowing that these people are still holding something back regardless of the intense passion they feel. It added complexity to the relationship. Without those foreboding tones, this could have easily fallen to the side of melodrama and would have just been boring. I mean it’s not really breaking new ground as in it’s a couple in an erotic romance keeping secrets from each other, having tons of creative sex, and are involved in some kind of peril! GASP! Who would have guessed it? EVERYONE. Anyone who’s ever read an erotic romance knows the clichés well. And that’s entirely ok. These things are cliché because they’re a formula that works.

Admittedly, there were times where I wasn’t incredibly interested in the story. I mean I’ve read a lot of other books similar to this one. The controlling alpha male isn’t something I like and I find it detrimental to any romance. Since Nick was being so demanding it made me root for them a little less. I had the sense that there was something sinister lurking but I just dismissed it… until the end. THAT FREAKING ENDING!

I didn’t see that one coming from out of left field. I don’t know how things are going to progress from here in the next book. This is not something you just come back from and if it was me in this situation I wouldn’t want to. But I just HAVE to see what happens next! Can’t wait for For 100 Reasons!

Oh, Nick, how could you. Just when you finally admit to loving her.

I love how both Avery and Nick are broken, but trying to help each other deal with what they have faced in their past. Nick admits to Avery over and over again that he's not a good man, but I never saw his devotion being that deep.

Can't wait for 100 Reasons to see what happens with Nick and Avery.
