I’ve read the book years after I saw the movie and now I want to watch the movie again just to see everything that’s described in the book!
I really liked the plot but I wanted more in the end! But maybe that’s for book 2!

8/10

Side note: I’ve watched the movie before reading this. I have to say that the romance, as compared to the movie, is lacking. Also the ending but I’ll expand more on that later.

The book is split into 3 parts, with the first two parts taking place with a person or a small group of people and their story across one chapter. Say, Rachel. or Rachel and Nick. Araminta and Colin. Eleanor Young. Then Phillip and Eleanor Young.

The last part takes place AT places. Different houses and addresses and places where major events of the chapter happen.

The biggest thrall of this book is the characters. So ethnically eccentric and diverse, giving you a look into not only Singapore but Rich Asian society as a whole and how it also came to be. You meet all sorts of families and I especially enjoyed reading this on my Kindle App where I could have all the lingo broken down. It’s these special addins that make this book special.

The movie Crazy Rich Asians follows Rachel and Nick into their romance as it takes a next step in Singapore with Nick’s rich family.

In this book, we see ALL of the Crazy Rich Asians. Including Peik Lin’s family the Go’s and the different branches of the family. It’s about each and every one of them. Astrid. Charlie. Peik Lin. Felicity. Eddie. Bernard. Francesca. Amanda. Araminta. Colin. All of the above.

I will for sure be continuing this series and I’m excited to see where each person ends up in their arcs and growths.

I will say, the ending is abrupt with no real resolution (as compared to the movie).

I found I lack a knowledge of Asian culture, fashion, architecture or interior decorating to appreciate a lot of this. I wish I read it on my kindle with the dictionary by there are literally words I didn’t know related to the above. It was boring and the people sucked.

A bit drawn out, but still enjoyable

I liked some of the plot but I'm to poor and classless to find all the descriptions of luxury entertaining.

Leichte Unterhaltung.

Someone described this as trashy crack lit and that really sums it up. The story is so fun and feels like you’re hearing all the gossip around the family and those who are connected. I really loved the snappy gossipy type writing. The story knows what it is, it is just pure silly, gossipy fun.

Long and boring. Good combination where books are concerned.
