This is the second KOTLC book that I've given a rating of 5 stars. The first book was 5 stars and the others were sort of slow sometimes and a tad annoying so I gave them ratings of 3.5 rounded up to 4 as they were still enjoyable with good plots and great humor. But I more of forced myself to finish them and was constantly checking my progress to see how long it would take for me to finish. And this one I actually read it with ease and was overall another favorite (mainly because Fitzphie got shut down... [and no offence to Fitzphie shippers! Opinions are respected here :) ]) and Sokeefe really happened. Not going to lie but I was literally waiting for the whole book for Keefe to finally show up so they could have their big moment and the ending was pretty good, I hope the next book comes out soon and be the last book in the series for real this time. This series has been good but its been going on for waaay too long and we all just want to see the Neverseen finally beaten up! If there will be short stories after book 10 I'd still read them though but I just want Sophie's side to win for once and for all!

I just read this for the fifth time and honestly I dunno what I was talking about, this book is great. Obviously five stars. I think I might have just been so disappointed back in 2022 that this carried throughout 2023. Stellarlune can officially join the ranks of Neverseen, Nightfall, and Legacy in the five-star tier.
Keefe is still annoying, just to be clear. Just not as bad as Fitz.

OK, yes, I read this the day it came out. It took me less than 24 hours. I was really conflicted about it then. Now, I have read it three times. Now, I have comprehensive thoughts on it. Spoilers for anyone who hasn't read it.
There are ten things, specifically, that stand out to me.
1. Sophie was absolutely the best character in Stellarlune. She's finally becoming the fierce, snarky protagonist I can easily root for, and I'm shipping her with Keefe harder than ever. Keefe just... didn't feel like Keefe. Ro, while she definitely helped Sokeefe along, was just annoying at some point. So Sophie was the best, in my opinion.
2. Chapters 22 and 23 are way more fangirl-worthy than chapter 42. Sure, chapter 42 was great, but it was almost exactly what I was expecting. The pure excitement from that moment Sophie realised she liked Keefe... I still grin so hard my face hurts, and I've read it SO MANY TIMES.
3. WHAT THE FUDGE WAS THAT ENDING?! Why did it only take up three chapters?!
4. Kenric's cache was boring. No one really cares about Kenric and Oralie's convoluted love story.
5. The way they found Keefe felt like a cop-out.
6. The cliffhanger raised more questions than answers.
7. Vespera shouldn't have died.
8. I love Fintan even more after seeing him scream at flowers.
9. NOT ENOUGH ACTION! This would have been five stars if the action hadn't waited until the last THREE CHAPTERS. You know nothing happened when we only saw Elwin ONCE.
10. Fitz did NOT get character development! Let's check out some of the messed-up things he said, probably in the wrong formatting because I'm still a Goodreads noob.
'Fitz gritted his teeth. "Stop calling us Fitzphie! That's not a thing!"' Glad as I am that he said this, it's really rude to yell it in front of the entire cafeteria- AND THEN PROCEED TO TELL SOPHIE HE WANTS TO KISS HER!
' It seemed like it bothered you that I'm trying to step up as a leader.
...
It's just... I'm a Vacker... And sometimes I still want to be that guy that everyone looks to. .'
BRO. And that's not even the worst one. THIS is the worst one.
' That really hurts, Sophie. Like, really, REALLY hurts. I mean... You kissed him? You didn't even kiss me! '
Like... WHAT THE HELL MAN?! I was SHOOK. I wanted to hurl the book across the room!
So, yeah. No character development for Wonderboi.
There're probably more things, but those are the main ones. Can't wait for book 10!

Nur noch ein Buch und dann hab ich die Reihe tatsächlich aufgeholt und muss wie alle anderen auch auf den nächsten Band warten. Als wenn ich die Geduld für sowas hätte lolol
Ich liebe die Reihe einfach, wünschte ich wir hätten schon viel mehr Antworten? Ja, aber es macht mir einfach auch unheimlich Spaß, in so eine lange Serie zu versinken, deswegen ist für mich der Stand der Dinge total okay.
Ich bin wirklich überrascht wie gut mir der Band gefallen hat, weil gerade die erste Hälfte Keefe frei war, und das ist nicht unbedingt schön für mich. Trotzdem hat mir die erste Hälfte wirklich gut gefallen. Ich finde die Entwicklung von Sophie einfach spannend und großartig, auch wenn es für Spannungen in der Gruppe sorgt. Aber man kann nicht so viel durchmachen wie diese Kids ohne das es Spuren hinterlässt, Verhalten ändert und auch für Streitereien sorgt. Am Ende sind sie trotzdem für einander da.
Ja und dann haben wir Keefe zurück bekommen. Und mein Keefe/Sophie Herz ist so happy mit allem was passiert ist. So fühlt es sich also an wenn man endlich gewinnt, huh???
Und das Ende. Shannon Messenger, wo ist der Termin für Band 10?!!?!?!?!?

I just love this series so mich, did I wish we had way more answers by now? Yes, but I also just really love sinking into such a long series and I'm kinda okay with where things are now.
I'm really surprised by how much I loved this book, cause the first half of it didn't have any Keefe, and I'm just not a fan of that. But I still really liked the first half. And I truly love Sophie's progress, even if it comes with some tension in the group. But you can't go through everything these kids have been gone through and have it not leave traces, not change their behaviour, or have it not cause any tension at all. At the end of it all, they still will stick together.
Yeah, and then we got Keefe back. And my Keefe/Sophie heart is so happy with everything that happened. This is how it feels to be winning, huh???
And the ending. Shannon Messenger, where is the release date for book 10!?!?!?!?!?

This is book 9 in The Keeper of the Lost Cities series (with some .5 in there too). Each book is about 700 pages. The series is still not done. While I enjoyed the story and the lessons Sophie and friends are learning, these could be shorter and stronger by not spending half the book in teen angst with the love triangle that has continued since almost day one.
