3.5-4.0 sweet rom-com....wasn't sure how it would end up.

TW: sexual assault. This book broke me. It was way too close to home. Right person, wrong time. Honestly pure pain.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read the ARC!

About the book: I spent 3/4 of the book trying to figure out which guy I wanted Maggie to end up with forever. Right when I’d make up my mind, there’s be a new memory brought into the storyline. The number of important memories that explained Maggie’s history with both men was a lot to unpack.

Oh I wanted to love this book. It has all the things i usually love…I love second chance, I love dual time lines, but I could not finish this book.

First off the dual times lines were disjointed and confusing for me to the point I didn’t know what was past and what was present.

The FMC was just unlikable to me. And I didn’t buy either the childhood love interest or the present one.

For making it 41% I feel like nothing happened? I couldn’t tell you any main thing that happened except that Maggie was insufferable. I decided with nothing notable happening it wasn’t worth my time to finish.

I find this author really interesting because her protagonists don’t fit into certain social expectations we have for women and raise good questions. It kept me reading, though at times, I wanted to read one timeline. It all came together in the end (lots of pining) and the information was revealed when necessary, but I think the ending was a bit rushed.

DID NOT FINISH: 52%

A mean pick-me girl sings out loud in a Trader Joe's once a week? Say less.

The characters didn't do anything for me, and the jumping around in time felt pointless because each age (except summer camp) found Maggie in the exact same place.

A bonus nitpick: music theory is not the study of song lyrics.
