I absolutely loved this book until the last chapter of her being 35. Like are you kidding me? One conversation caused them to break up for 4 years? That was some horse shit. So now he’s going to raise a child that he missed the first 2 years of her life?! From a random sperm donor? I am just so mad. After all the shenanigans and bad timing why couldn’t things have just gone smooth at the end? Why add in another monkey wrench? Bless.
Unique premise but doesn’t live up to the premise after the first 30-40% or so. The alternating timelines are a bit hard to keep track of especially if you’re not reading all in one sitting. There isn’t enough character build up or exposition to understand why the characters like each other, you’re just sort of expected to go along the ride… Like what’s so strong about the protagonist Maggie’s connection with Garrett (one of the two love interests)? Why are Maggie and Summer best friends? Asher seemed like a good person so I could get on board but it’s kind of odd that they rely on chemistry alone to carry a relationship between two people that haven’t interacted in a decade or so??
The pacing was also off near the end, it’s like not much happens for a majority of the book and then the author crams a ton to close out the conflict she introduces, eg Maggie calls Garrett during her breakdown instead of Asher, Maggie wants a child but Asher doesn’t and then layer changes his mind, the whole wrap up with the sexual assault case…
Wouldn't read another one by this author unless it was highly rated/recommended.

The book had a good premise, but the author kind of ruined it by trying to fit in too many sub plots. The ending also was too frustrating and I was mad that it happened and wished I hadn’t read the book. Who in their right mind would get so far into a relationship and never mention kids, and then have it happen twice The epilogue felt rushed and just a way to make this a romance by giving a HEA. I’d rather it be labeled as a women’s lit novel and cut off the crappy epilogue.

This is not your usual romance book. I typically don't read romances with a true love triangle but this one carried it through to the end. It was a very angst filled book, but I really enjoyed it.
Maggie makes a marriage pact with two different guys at two different points in her life. If she's not married by 35, they would find each other again. Garrett has been her closest friend for years, but their timing was never right to take the relationship to the next level. Asher was her teenage love who hasn't been in her life for years after parting ways during college. When her music career also takes off, Maggie is left with a lot of choices to make.
This book really was beautiful. I had to open my mind to letting the story take me wherever it was supposed to go, and it worked out. The author made you feel Maggie's heartache and angst as she is dealing with circumstances surrounding both of these guys and her career. I liked the unique premise of this book, although I'm not going to be signing up to read love triangles frequently. They stress me out! Finally, I loved the inclusion of music and lyrics to heighten the scenes.
Read this if you are in the mood for a heart-wrenching, yet hopeful love story.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the e-book in exchange for my honest review.

KU and audio (hoopla). 3.75 stars. Girl turns 35, and is told she’s running out of time by her OBGYN. She made a marriage pact with 2 different guys by the time she turns 35, and they both show up in her life. I loved the premise and really enjoyed this book. Major points deducted for an entirely unnecessary cheating trope. Also, the ending felt lackluster. But otherwise, this was great.
