I didn't read the blurb and I thought it's a romance book but it's more women fiction.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I just don’t love when books jump timelines. I understand why the author wrote this book that way, but it really takes me a while to get into books that do jump timelines. There were a lot of twists that I didn’t expect in the book and that the message was really important and powerful. I feel like I needed to read this.

Enjoyable plot, but didn’t fall in love with any of the characters. The song writing never quite fit, there were some things that were mentioned once that fell off completely and we never got a full glimpse of Maggie’s career, which was such a driving force.

I was not prepared to feel the things I felt while reading this. There is something refreshing about what I consider unconventional happy endings weaved in a book that rips your heart out of your chest (repeatedly) and yet somehow leaves it feeling whole. This book is messy and I know it will be one that I think about repeatedly.
While we do get a beautiful story about love, the heartbreaks along the way, right person wrong time...etc...this book is so much more. We get to see beautiful friendships, overcoming trauma, and learning to choose yourself..even if it hurts.
I don't think I can do this book justice and will be buying a physical copy to add to my bookshelf and annotate. Never have I highlighted as many passages as I did with this book.

Did not like the main character and did not want to spend any more time with her
Y'all, I loved this book so, so much. The hook felt totally unique (a woman makes a marriage pact with two different men that if they're single at 35, they'll get married; she turns 35 and deals with the fallout), the main character felt so unique and well drawn. At times, I wanted to chuck this book out the window because I was so jealous about how smart and funny it is and how it captured a writing style I can only describe as "Taylor Swift-ian". Def one of my top books of the year. READ THIS!
