Once I started this book there was no putting it down. I loved that Jenna was not your typical size 6. I loved that she was a confident business woman but still had her insecurities about her body. Let's face it who doesn't go through life without some sort insecurity. She felt believable to me. Bryce what's not to like about him. He was so relentless once he figured out that he wanted Jenna. It was totally believable that he would fall for her, since they had been friends for so long.

This story was light hearted, funny and undeniably sexy. But it was more about the couple coming together not just the sex; even though the sex was very, very steamy. Highly recommended! I wish the next book was out already.

I must say the shower scene is worth buying this book. So hot!

Hot In Here by Sophie Renwick

She wasn't his dish-until someone turned up the heat

Genre: Contemporary erotic romance
Publication date: June 2nd 2009
Paperback: 288 pages

"I like my women the way I like my recipes: fast, easy and full of variety.”

Bryce Ryder in known as a playboy who dates sexy women and change between them like he changes his socks. His career is in jeopardy after a article in a magazine where he has been quoted saying certain things. He may be from a wealthy family but he wants to make it on his own and has started a successful restaurant, and has his own cooking show (Heating it up). A show watched by home wives who doesn't take kindly to his words and image. He needs to be saved.

In steps Jenna McCabe, his long time friend who owns a PR firm and she is known to be good at it. If anyone can help him it's her. What he doesn't know is that she has been in love with him for 10 years and for her 28th birthday she has promised herself him with a ribbon around. But that will be hard since he was badly hurt in the past by a woman who took half of what he owns, and he is not the commitment guy these days. Now is the time for Bryce to finally see her as the woman she is, and not just same plain girl and hopefully she can keep him too.

You remember what your mothers told you about playing with your food, well after this you will look at it another way. Yes food is sure meant the be played with and it gets played with a lot in this book. He is a wonderful chef, she loves his cooking, mix in with some sexual tension built to explode and what we have is something that boils over. A warning for people who think food should only be eaten from a plate. Because it will get hot in here. This book is steaming.

There will be more books in this series about the Ryder brothers. We quickly meet Tyson, and I can't form an opinion about him, but he will be around later. We see more of Trey and Jenna's sister Sarah, and I sure want to read more about them. They can't seem to stand each other, but at the same time... Yes it will be fun. These two has seen that Jenna is in love with Bryce, and Trey wants his brother to open his eyes too so they set off scheming on how to get them together. But those kinds of plans are a sure bet to fail because love can't be built on lies and deception.

There is also a third sister Emily, she does sound interesting, and I have my ideas on what she is up too. Her we will see more about in the other books I am sure. The McGabe farm is another set stone in the story. Here they grew up and Jenna has wonderful memories of her and Bryce there. It's also a part of the story how her family struggles to keep the farm as they risk to loose it, and everything on it will be destoyed.

I like the theme of friends becoming lovers and learning to know each other in a different way, and look at each other in a different light. They seem so right for each other and I wonder why they didn't get it sooner. But love is blind, and Bryce needed to learn to look past things. I am sure glad he did because they are sweet together, and I get the little jealous streak that comes out of him when he sees her with someone else. Then we do see that he want her, and he begins to admit it to himself. Admit that he may always have felt it. I do like Jenna, she is not a plain girl, she is Strong ans sweet, and Bryce is sexy and I wouldn't mind him cooking me something.

And there is sex, food sex, and a lot of others things that weaves into the story perfectly. It doesn't feel like there is sex for the sake of sex. No, it's there for a reason, and there is so much more than just it too. There is the story about them both, the farm, and their siblings. The book has a story to tell and it's being told.

It's a great story, and because of the way it's written it leaves you wanting more about the Ryder brothers and the McGabe girls.

*** 2nd Time Impression: 3½ stars ***

Yesterday I was feeling kinda down and I wanted to read something cute and quick to sweeten my mood. What can go wrong if I pick one of my favorite romance novels, right?
Obviously, a lot of things.

Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed friends to lovers aspect of the story and delicious descriptions of food. But somehow in the five years since I read Hot in Here the first time I became old and boring.

For example: He puts her on the table. Dumps some creamy desert on her. Lick it all off. They have sex. They move to bed. They have sex again. They fall asleep. I remember this scene was SO HOT to me. Do you know what I was thinking now? "EEEEWWW". They didn't shower and change the sheets. I have a small kid now and now just how sticky and gross can sweets on the bedsheets can be. No thank you.

Also for the part set in Tuscany I was sad there were no descriptions of scenery. I really wanted to find out more about San Gimignano, it sounded like a must-visit kind of place.

One aspect of the book that I totally forgot about and that I liked very much is that heroine is not perfect. She is size 14. And hero helps her cure her insecurities about her body.

In the end, if you can turn off the rational part of your mind, this is a hot sexy little book. Not recommended for reading if you are on a diet. ;)

Spoiler*** 1st Time Impression: 4½ stars ***

I really enjoyed reading this book.
I'm a sucker for best-friends-turn-lovers stories, because my husband and me were that kind. So I am familiar with some problems and doubts that happen. :)

Bryce Ryder is a fabulous chef so prepare yourself for mouthwatering description of food. And he has a sweet tooth, so there will be a lot of chocolate and caramel and... If you are on a diet, maybe better save this book for later date. ;)

Chemistry between him and Jenna is smoking hot. There is nothing too kinky but enough variety of poses and places and imagination to keep it interesting. And food. Before, during and after. All I can say is yummy. When I started reading, I could not put it down.

Not what I expected. The back blurb and with story inside just didn't fit each other. I was disappointed. The back made it sound very promising.

A very steamy read! The overall plot was good too- I would recommend this to anyone looking for a hot romance novel. The relationship between Bryce and Jenny was just fantastic.

This was TERRIBLE. I don't know where I came across it to add to my to-read list, but I sort of want to remove everything from the same source. All the conflict is because characters can't be honest about what they want which might be realistic but is boring to read about. Plus it wasn't even sexy, which is key for contemporary romance/erotica.

From the very beginning, there's some "she's not like other girls" bullshit: "Jenna was different. A different kind of woman from Chrissy and all the nameless others. Jenna was comfortable. Someone you could just hang around with while tossing back a few beers. She wasn't one of these high-drama types." SHUT THE FRONT DOOR with this cool girl bullshit. Towards the end, a character again describes her as "a natural beauty without needing to be all made up", which as a woman who doesn't wear makeup, let me tell you most women who look like that are wearing a lot of it, they are just talented at putting it on. Also the male main character, Bryce, later judges her for having a box of condoms in her home. So we're judging people who are careful and safe now? That doesn't make you slutty, it makes you responsible.

Holy heart fluttering heaven. Hot food and hot love, well it's hot all over.

The protags bugged me a bit with their on-off tendency, but they finally got their heads together so that was good.

Really intrigued by the tension between hero's brother and heroine's sister though. PLEASE can their book be next??

Celebrity Chef Bryce Ryder has tarnished his image by making a flippant comment that did not ring true. When his PR consultant and best friend Jenna McCabe tells him what she really thinks of his attitude, Bryce sees a completely different women in front of him. The girl who has always been shy and accepting of everything he has done has become a stunning, voluptuous woman whose confidence is incredibly arousing. With a little nudge from family in different directions, Bryce pursues Jenna with fierce determination and although the only thing Jenna has ever wanted is Bryce, she keeps him at arms length worried he is going to break her heart.

Sizzling story, I craved more. There is definitely an opportunity for another book between Jenna and Bryce's siblings. I thought Sophie Renwick really captured the, sometimes misguided, but honest feelings Bryce and Jenna have while trying to not destroy their friendship.
