Far superior to the major motion picture and the BBC version.
I enjoyed the story line, particularly as told from the viewpoint of the narrator (the other Boleyn girl -- Anne's sister). Gregory clearly did a mass amount of research on her topic, and at times I found myself skimming through some of the minute details (although, that isn't uncommon for me). Even though I knew the fate of the main characters, I was still compelled to read on. If you enjoy historical fiction, you will like this book.

Who is to say what events really transpired leading up to the execution in King Henry VIII's court, but Gregory's details suffice to intrigue the reader. One flaw is the lack of depth in some of the characters. That is to say, the author manipulates the reader by creating caricatures who are perpetually portrayed as possessing few traits (Anne and Jane Parker were always in the same state of mind throughout the book). Thus, the reader really has no space for judgment. And because Anne only ever appeared to be selfish and evil, I rejoiced in her head being hacked-off because she was terribly whiny and annoying! Other than that, I really enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it to others.

An interesting point of view to tell the story of Ann Boleyn from.
I really enjoyed this book. Everyone talks about it like it's this steamy guilty pleasure of a romance novel, but that's not how I felt about it at all. It was the story of Anne Boleyn's rise and fall, told from the point of view of her sister, and yes, there's sex involved. As I recall, no bodice was ripped. At least one bodice was untied.
I'm not surprised that I liked this book, as Tudor England has been my thing lately. I'm mildly interested in picking up The Boleyn Inheritance.
