This cover deserves awards. It is so visually stunning. Definitely a purchase based on appearance, but it was so much more. I happened to read this while on vacation, on a boat, so it was beyond fitting and perfect. I could easily feel myself falling into this world. I loved this and recommend it to anyone looking for adventure.

Fable isn't your typical YA read. The world created by Adrienne Young is vicious, ruthless, and unforgiving. Fable was abandoned on an island, Jeval, by her father, immediately following her mother's death. She had to learn quickly how to survive on her own. Jeval is full of dredgers, vagrants, theives, and people doing anything to survive. She can trust no one. She risks her life daily trying scrounge enough to get money to buy her freedom. Her only goal is escaping back to where her father is. Getting what he promised her. But life has been hard.

She is forced off the island as others try to kill her and pays passage on the Marigold. The crew of the Marigold help her but only because the captain, West, forces them to. Fable has to earn their trust and respect. She begins to realize the crew of the Marigold aren't who they want her to believe.

I loved Fable. She is strong, sharp, and doesn't easily falter. The book is character driven with some well written world development. There is a romance and it is devloped slowly and kept my interest. When West finally tells her how he feels, man did my heart leap. The ending has a cliff hanger so be ready to grab the next book quickly. It is an easy world to fall into and one delicious read.
