This is one of those books that I feel guilty about liking. He treats her like shit, all the pushing into walls etc. There is a difference between hot wall sex and pushing into walls to intimidate. So I hated that part but I love the criminal world they are creating.
I had really high expectations with this considering how many people I've seen raving about how its one of the best mafia series. It didn't feel like that for me personally, but maybe the books get better so I'll stick with it.
I did have fun reading this, the plot was entertaining, especially the last 40% where everything finally starts to kick off with the wild ass mafia scenes you'd expect to read. The spice was hot, the banter was good, and there was enough build up of side characters that I'm looking forward to their book.
However, I really cringed at the fmc's dialogue at points. Also, her ability to defeat combat trained mafia men from a few years of her dad teaching her a bit of boxing (that she's not practiced since) felt too far fetched - even for a mafia book.
I'll read the next book soon and see if this series gets better...

did it keep me reading and sorta get me out of my slump? yea. Was it the best book ever? no. It was a solid mafia type book but let me be the first to say I UNDERSTAND HES IRISH. PLEASE STOP WITH THE YE. every time he said yes or your it was ye or ye're. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. please save me. not to mention with every u it was an e instead. like please stop we understand he has an accent. don't get me started on the plot. what plot? and not that kinda no plot if yk what I mean but actually like the plot was just all over the place. I really didn't see the appeal of this book but I will say it was a fun read cause of all the drama. but by the third time she was kidnapped I was like... I'm over it. I really don't understand how this has 4 stars as the average ratting. I've read Wattpad books with 20 times the plot that this book had. AND THE WRITING please don't get me started on that.
It was a bit redundant in places, but overall, I loved Lachlan and Mack. Both of their pasts were hard and there were plenty of twists that kept this book highly entertaining!!
I really enjoyed this book, the characters, the storyline, the pacing…Everything was written very well. I loved Mack and her dynamic with Lachlan. Excited for the second book✨
I'll give ALL THE STARS IN THE UNIVERSE to this book if I can, because this was the BEST MAFIA ROMANCE I've ever read (not that there were many, but I still think it was the best out there).
Lachlan (Crow) was the perfect book boyfriend. He was dangerous and powerful (he's a leader in the Irish mob), overprotective (he will kill anyone who hurts his woman), very possessive (again, he will kill anyone who steals his woman), passionate, playful, and for a change, a loyal man.
Mackenzie was the perfect heroine. She was very strong (hell, she's an MMA fighter, and has even beaten a mobster in a fight), determined, loyal, sensual (she was an exotic dancer too, isn't she just talented?), smart, and she doesn't take crap from anyone.
Lachlan and Mackenzie's chemistry was undeniable, intense, and off-the-charts. I love their romance - how it was not rushed and the way their initial attraction grew over time, no matter how they both try to fight it.
The story was filled with action and suspense (we keep on guessing who was behind Mackenzie's friend's disappearance), and the plot twists and counterplots kept my attention from start to finish. There was NEVER a dull moment.
I just love every second of this story. There's nothing else I could ask for - it was every bit of perfect. It's very rare that I want to read the book again immediately after I just finished it, but I guess with this one, I had to.
