IT WAS AN OVERALL GOOD BOOK.
I DIDN'T LIKE DUKE AT ALL!!! I LOVED TREVOR !!! I LOVED TREVOR AND ADDISON'S RELATIONSHIP!!!
I HATED THAT IT ON ONE HER SEARCHER/PATH HER BFF AND DUKE CHEATED ON HER UGHUHHHHHHH >:l (GRRRR!!) I DIDN'T LIKE THAT SHE ERASED HER MEMORIES OF TREVOR I GET THAT SHE CHOSE THAT PATH BECAUSE HER BFF WOULD DIE IN THAT ONE BUT SHE HAD TO LEAVE TREVOR!!! :( THOUGH IT WAS A GOOD BOOK

Very interesting story. Different from any other book I have read. I really enjoy seeing the whole two paths in the future thing.

I will be short, it was an interesting book. I really liked that you start out with one story, and then it branches out to 2 stories.

However, while there were enough changes, it felt (around the middle) like I was just reading 2 sides of the same story. A lot of things that happened in branch one, also happened in branch 2. The only things different were a few actions, the guys and some events. But a lot was the same, and that was a shame.

I loved the romance. Trevor was a really cute and swoonworthy guy, while Duke... well I always had the feeling he was just a slimy player who used his powers for bad stuff. :\

Our main character was really good, I really liked her, and how she acted in the 2 branches and also in the normal story line. She was really nice, but also wasn't easily taken over by things.

I also liked the whole compound/normal world thing. Really creative.

To much love triangle, not enough world building. The ending was deliciously angsty, though. So there's that!

Review: http://heartfullofbooks.com/2014/06/23/review-pivot-point-by-kasie-west/

I wasn't too sure about this book when I first started reading it (I felt like it was copying Divergent a bit) but by the 2nd or 3rd chapter I was hooked and couldn't put it down. It felt like it's own unique story. Engaging, well written, and a clean read.

I love Kasie West’s contemporary fiction books, and I’ve been holding on to Pivot Point and Split Second for a while, wondering how the sci-fi aspect worked with West’s writing. Well, I was not disappointed. West has a knack for fluffy teen/young adult romances that I can’t help but love. Plus, the addition of people with special “advanced abilities” did not take away from this. As you can tell from the description, Addie, when faced with a choice, can see into the future and decide based off what she sees which choice she wants to make. Going along with that concept West chose to alternate the chapters between Addie’s two options and had them occurring along the same timeline. Then on top of that she added a mystery, while not very relevant till closer to the middle of the book, that you watched unfold from two different sides. I had a hard time deciding for a while which choice I liked more, but, by the end of it, it was clear the one I wanted to happen. Addie develops love interests in both choices and because West is the author, I was swooning for both for a while. By the end, I understand why Addie decides on her choice, but like many people, I wish it could have been different. But Heavens to Murgatroyd, thank goodness, West made this a two part series because I still have a chance for an ending I can smile about.

This story is so refreshing and original and awesome and complex yet non confusing!!! Honestly I loved it sooooo much! I've never really read anything like that before! The different route thing is like time travel and should mostly confuse me, but this is clear even when jumping into different routes every chapter. I quickly got onto the pace of the book! I loved every single book I've read by Kasie West, this too!! Cant wait to start the next book immediately.
Character-wise and story-wise. I've always loved the Norm route better. (also I loved how every chapter the title norm and para is included in a vocab! Find that pretty cool) Trevor. Fell in love ever since he appeared! I also thought the next bk would be the entire repeat of what happened and how Addie alter it but hey they got is figured right in a epilogue!!! OMG TREVOR in the next one definitely!! I always knew something was fishy with Duke, never liked him either! I dun wanna say this but I kinda figured it was Bobby all along. Thought Im curious about Poison, he didnt really had much to do with the story kind of. Srsly loved the Trevor relationship when they read tgt, figure out 'Bestfriend' handbook. That was cute! Addie is a decent interesting character! Lilian(is tht her name) the best friend, it's awesome how their powers fit each other. I love the dad so much more than the mom. I also loved how Addie wants to act like certain fictional character and react to the divorce. I love the concept of the Compound and the world.
Then there is the writing of the story. There is a lot of use in '-', which was funny. Like all Kasie West books, it is easy to read!
Love it! NOW GET ME TREVOR!!! ><

This was a pleasant surprise. I was all ready for your run-of-the-mill YA story about a girl with some kind of paranormal power and a love triangle and hijinks....and instead I got a sneak attack of a story.

So yes, there is a love triangle...but it isn't really a love triangle...and the way its done is so refreshingly new and keeps you guessing about what's actually going on in the characters' heads.

Sadly, most of the cool parts of this story reside in the plot. And the reason why this book kept my interest and is so FUN is because of the way the plot slowly unfolds; there are clues galore about the bad guys and what they're doing, there's clues galore hidden in the way the heroine, Addie, feels about both boys, and there's a point near the end where you run back through events in your mind and have to acknowledge how clever the author was to implant those clues without tipping her hand.

So I can't really tell you the parts I loved without giving stuff away that you should really figure out on your own.

The beginning was a bit slow and confusing-- and I almost gave up until I figured out why things felt so disjointed. Then I was intrigued.

Addie can see her own future-- she experiences the two results of any given choice like a memory. It's real for her. Her best friend, Laila, can erase memories, and she says she's never done it to Addie before, but what if Addie has seen something in her future she wants to forget?

There is young-YA appropriate kissing and hugging, and there's some murdered girls offstage thrown in the mix, so I wouldn't mind my elementary school aged daughter reading this. But don't get me wrong, keeping track of what's going on, figuring out the clues, and matching them to future events keeps even adults intrigued.

The ending manages to tie together everything while showing Addie made a choice-- and setting up a cliffhanger for the next book. Which I must go buy now.

I wish I could see alternate versions of my future. Anyway, this book was great. I liked the mystery and the romance. Yes, I fell in love with Duke even though I should not have but Trevor stole my heart in the end. I can't wait for the next installment.
