Such a good book and ah I think I'm going to have after book depression it's so special and cool and a unique idea. I just love it!!!!
I think, because I didn't really trust any of the characters, I took forever to read this one and gave it the 3 stars. This was a rec. from a 7th grader, and it was a bit too much for me, switching from one possible reality to the other every chapter. Who's the good guy? Who are the bad guys? Too many possibilities when there are "mind abilities" involved (the author took a lot of liberties with them, too).

The Reading Rush 2019
“I don't care when people think I'm an antisocial, controlling bookworm because that's what I am. It's when they interpret me wrong that I have a problem.”
I honestly didn't know what to expect from this. I love Kasie West's newer works, so I wasn't sure what to make of her dabbling in a different genre, but this was great. I'm so glad that this readathon finally forced me to pick it up. Trevor is great, he's so loving and understand! I hope that she gets to be with him in the sequel!!!

I thought this book was really fun and clever.
I liked both sets of her futures and was really torn as to which one she should keep as she continued through them. Then the ending surprised me with it's seriousness! Whew!
Plus, it was clean.
A creative read that made me download book #2 right away!

I've wanted to read Pivot Point for a while, but now that I have, I'm not sure how I feel about it.
On the one hand, I love the idea of a girl who can Search her future. It's an interesting concept, and the idea of a paranormal compound full of people who have paranormal abilities is a pretty cool idea.
I also like that we see both futures side-by-side-, and how they're different from each other...but also how they mirror each other. The book alternates between her life in the Compound and her life outside the Compound, and we're basically getting two sides of the same story, which is really unique, and it's pretty well-plotted.
That's also where the book lost me. At first, I didn't realize that we got two different stories, and I was confused by the random jumps between inside the Compound and outside the Compound. Especially because we had nothing in terms of chapter headings and where we were. I did go back to the beginning and started over just to figure out what was going on because I was really confused, and that was when I figured out we got the two different futures.
Once I got my bearings (which is sort of a weird way to put it, but it also describes how I feel about the book), I really enjoyed the book and the story and the two different paths the story took. It did lose me a little at the end too, because I thought the ending was a little too weird. It took me off-guard, and it was definitely unexpected, because I had no idea where it was going or how it was going to end. But that last chapter was sort of confusing because I wasn't expecting a time jump and it was a little disorienting. While I want to re-read that chapter to see maybe a re-read will sort things out, I also feel done with the book.
Still, I am curious about the sequel, and what's in store for Addison. I'm not in any hurry to read the next one, but I will get to it eventually, because I am pretty intrigued by this world.
My Rating: 3 stars. I'm on the fence with this one- I liked the dual futures we see alternating, and I like that they're just different enough from each other to be distinct, but also have similar enough stories to see that some things don't change no matter what path you take. There were times when the dual paths lost me, notably at the beginning and the end, but overall, all of the things I really like outweigh everything else, which is why it's not getting a lower rating from me.

Re-read opinion: Yeah, I liked Pivot Point before, but this re-read just blew my mind. This was one of those books that is much better the second time because you can see everything leading up to the ending and it is fantastic. Full 5 stars this time!
I had a suspicion of it before, but Pivot Point confirmed it for me: I am a HUGE fan of Parallel universe stories. I like being able to see the way two different things will play out while knowing more than the characters, because I’m an evil reader like that. And Pivot Point reminded me of all my favorite parts of parallel universe stories.
Not only do we have parallel choices in Pivot Point, but also superheros(basically), and um, it’s set in my home state of Texas, so that always gets a nod. Now, the words “superhero” does not sound that great to me. I picture cheesy Superman comics. However, I really liked the idea of the ParaNormals, their talents/abilities, and The Compound. The idea behind the Compound was so cool–a whole city, basically, hidden from the rest of the world where people with special abilities live and teenagers go to school to work on honing their specific abilities.
I really admire Addie’s ability to use her talent with restraint. Not going to lie, if I had her ability to look at two different outcomes of each decision, I’d probably use it more than would be healthy. The majority of this story(at least 80%), is Addie’s search when her parents tell her about the divorce. It makes for a really interesting reading experience because while both realities are intriguing enough in their own right and keep my attention, there was a little voice at the back reminding me that this wasn’t really the story yet. It could be, depending on which future Addie choose, but at the moment the story’s told, it’s a search.
There’s a love triangle in Pivot Point(kinda), but I’ve decided I really like parallel story love triangles. Because generally the two sides of the triangle don’t know each other, there’s no animosity. Instead, love triangles can serve a point in the story of showing two different sides of the main character. I was never a fan of Duke, Addie’s potential love interest in the Compound, and really liked Trevor, the “norm” boy. Even with the love triangle, it never overshadowed the plot.
My only real complaint with Pivot Point is that it got off to a bit of a slow start. After the world’s set up a bit, the first few chapters are quite. . . normal. Nothing out of the ordinary, mainly just Addie adjusting to a new life. While that would be fine on its own in a contemporary, I thought the premise of this book warranted a pace that was just a little quicker than what this book actually was at the beginning.
Final Impression: Other than a little issue with pacing at the beginning, I REALLY enjoyed Pivot Point and it’s take on parallel realities. Addie’s an interesting main character and I have a feeling I’ll like her even more in Split Second, the sequel. This was a really original story that I flew through.

Okay, I want to read the next book right away!
Wow, this book entertained me and the mystery was super interesting. I had a bad aftertaste from the previous book I read so this one did its job to lift my spirits. Still have a lot of question though
Addie could've been a little more confident in herself and not thinking she was boring and I felt her to be controversial at times. Norm or Para; I think she doesn't exactly fit into any of them.

Generously giving it 4/5 stars.
I know the story was overall unique, but I wasn't hooked. At all. Except for a few of the last chapters. Which was mind boogling! I feel like I NEED to continue on the next book!
This definitely ended on a good note, that's why I'm giving it a four and because I didn't feel like giving it less. I liked the way it was written as well.
But it felt like some sort of contemporary... with mind powers. I think that describes it perfectly.
Overall it was good. :)
