AMAZING!!! THIS BOOK WAS SO AMAZING!!

Addie can see the future when it comes to choices.

Throughout the story it alternates between the choices of living with her Mum or living with her Dad.

I was so hooked on this book. I definitely recommend to all!!

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS FANTABULOUS. Pivot Point was an unexpected treat. I love Kasie’s contemporary romances and I didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as those. But, I was very, very wrong. I’m also very, very anxious to read book #2. I LOVE THIS BOOK AND I SHALL READ ITS SEQUEL.

Anyway, here are some of the thoughts I had while reading:

•It’s kind of funny to see how Addie struggles with all our technology like DVDs and door knobs.
•I want her to pick Duke! No, Trevor! I’m definitely team Duke...right?(All I wanted to do was flip to the end to see who she chose but I stopped myself and for that I am grateful)

That’s all for now!

Pivot Point is one of the best and most unique novels I've ever read. It's about a Compound where a lot of people live, but they all have mind powers! How awesome is that? I was drawn in by this story line straight away and I didn't want to put the book down.

Addie finds out that her parents are getting a divorce and she must choose who she wants to live with. So since Addie's power is that she can look into the future when she's face with a choice, she decides to see what her life would be like six weeks into the future is she lived with her mum or with her dad.

First of all, I adored how the chapters flicked between Addie's two different lives. I loved how at the beginning of each chapter there were words with the leters 'PARA' or 'NORM' to help you distinguish what life of Addie's you were reading about. It was such a unique way of doing it, and I loved it!

So lets start of with Addie's life with her mother in the Compound. If Addie stays with her mother, she gets to stay with her best friend. She also starts dating the schools quarterback Duke. But everything doesn't go smoothly in this life. Addie manages to get herself in a bit of trouble by getting involved with her best friends fathers drug dealer, which causes a lot of problems. Her boyfriend is lying to her and Addie suspects that they're using the powers when they're playing normal football teams. And then something horrible happens at the end and I was gobsmacked to find out who was behind everything!

Addie's life with her father outside the Compound in Dallas was amazing. It was very interesting getting to see Addie interacting with normal humans and acting like one herself. She was starting a new school and had to make new friends, and then she met Trevor. I knew the second she met Trevor I wanted her to pick this life. He was so cute and sweet, and Addie seemed to help him a lot. I adored seeing those two together! Addie settled into life outside the compound quite easily. It took her a while to get used to all the stuff she hadn't encountered before and learning to act normal, but she managed to do it. But then something horrible and tragic happened at the end of this one, and I just couldn't believe it. I was so distraught (as was Addie).

Onto the characters now!
I loved Addie! She was such a brilliant character. There were times when I though she was a little naive (PARA), but overall she was an excellent character. She was funny, smart and just amazing. She could have been a better friend in the NORM version of her life and maybe things wouldn't have turned out the way they did, but we'll never know.

Laila was an awesome character too! She could erase memories, which makes her even more awesome. She was a fantastic best friend, hilarious, flirty and I just loved her. She was brilliant for Addie.

So there were two love interests in this book. First we had Duke. I didn't like Duke at all. He was a jerk, he was cocky and I just never believed that he cared about Addie. He just seemed to come from nowhere and he was suddenly interested in her. I never liked his relationship with Addie at all.
And then we have Trevor. I loved Trevor so, so much. He befriended Addie straight away which made me like him right away. And then they had their own little inside jokes and they got closer and closer. Addie and Trevor were perfect together. They were so cute <3

The ending of the book kind of left me slightly heartbroken, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get over it in the next book!

Overall, this was a very unique and intriguing book. I loved exploring the two possible lives for Addie and I can't wait to see what's in store for her next.

3.5 stars

Pivot Point has to be one of the most unique books I've read this year. A girl who has these superpower things, can look into the future and choose which decision she should make based on the two futures she can see. So, Addie's parents are about to get divorced, and she needs to decide which parent she lives with, or, most importantly, which boy she ends up with.

Tbh, it was a good book, and I really enjoyed the idea (I'm assuming there are other books written like this out there - how things could have gone? I think I have one on my to-read shelf...). So, it's definitely a style of book I'd like to read again. But this book... Eh, it was okay? Like, I couldn't put it down, but looking back at the plot, it seemed to be mainly about football and boys?! Is this me?!

I've managed to make this review negative, srsly, it's a good book, give it a try

Well, that was underwhelming. A great concept that just failed due to a poor execution. Most of the book consisted in our female character's daily life from two different points of view: one from the Addie that stayed with her mum, and the other one from the Addie that chose to live in the normal world with her dad. The most interesting thing happens in the end (in a rush, may I say), and it comes as no surprise. Disappointing.

I liked the different style, a lot. Thriller + action + suspense + romance + slight dystopia = excites!

I thought that the friendships were handled pretty well and were quite believable.

This book literally blew my mind :o
It centered around Addie, who has the ability to live through what would happen if she went to live with her dad and what would happen if she stayed with her mom. It seemed obvious at first, why would she leave everything and everyone she had ever known to go live with normal, boring strangers??
The book took a while to capture my attention because I was on Team Duke (im officially team trevor now) and it seemed like the obvious choice for Addie to stay where she belonged. But as i kept reading, my feelings for what she should choose got completely jumbled. I had no idea what I would do in her place. The choice she made in the end was literally painful to read. Even though it made me want to cry, it made sense. In a way, she did what she had to even though she had to sacrifice A LOT. :(
All together, this book was spectacular and brilliant, ESPECIALLY the ending (maybe not the cliffhanger), AND I WANT THE NEXT ONE LIKE RIGHT NOW.

*4.5*

VERY unique and interesting concept, I really liked it!

A new dystopian that I pretty much like. A couple complaints, but overall, that's some pretty quality magic-y dystopian coolness. Like the characters, like the story arc, the only thing is the idea of the community isn't super new and wasn't revamped in a new way. I do like the idea of Addie's power. That's cool and (pretty) original and new. The writing's funny, I like it and the ending isn't like, crazy new and exciting and different, but I, at least, hadn't caught on (to be perfectly fair, however, I'm not super good at solving crime novels and TV shows.) Didn't get terribly invested in the characters, but I did really like them :)

This book is about Addie who can kind of tell the future (except only when she has to make a choice so that she can see if it's the right choice.) So, her parents are getting a divorce and her mom is staying in the cool Compound with all the other people with abilities but her dad is leaving to go live with the Norms. And she Searches into the both futures (alternating chapters) to see which she would rather choose.

SPOILER-Y DISCUSSION!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, as previously stated, I'm really bad at figuring things out in a mystery format (which is partly why I love them so much) so the whole Bobby thing kind of took me surprise. I thought that he was going to be this secret cool good guy that would swoop in and save the day when Addie and Laila faced off against Poison. Turns out… that's not really it. And he was evil and I felt stupid. But, anyway, thought that was a cool thing :)

To be perfectly 100% honest with you, I was kind of voting for Duke until we got like half way through and we got to know Trevor better and he became super awesome. And that was weird of me because I ALWAYS go for the artist, like, artists are my weakness. Though, I guess, we didn't really know he could draw until like half way through.

Also, all those football injuries and stuff. That was pretty cool and it was actually pretty original. I also liked all the complexity that was weaved into there. Who will she pick? Can she still like Duke knowing all this stuff about him?

However, like, the second time that she was talking about how she always got wary of Duke when he wasn't around but otherwise she felt like he was super awesome. I guessed it! I'm so proud of myself. However, I mean, you have to be kind of obvious if I'm going to get it.

Laila, I mean, dude. She betrayed Addie in both futures (hanging out with Bobby/ Duke.) That's not a particularly good omen. Just a comment.

I love Trevor. He's just so sweet and artistic (yah…) and he's just awesome. Ooh, and he has a younger brother who he's sweet to and stuff. That's another thing I like in guys. Sweet to younger siblings. Yep.

And… uh… I had more stuff to write about…

Ooh, yah, I like her dad a lot. He seems like a really overall good guy who knows what's up and cares about stuff.

Witty! I love me some witty YA.

Also, the ending was cute and sweet. I'm not reading the second one though, that was a perfect little stand alone type thing for me and I'm pretty done with Addie and her life.

FINNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!

Overall, a really interesting, funny, romantic read. 87%

2.5 stars.
