4.06 AVERAGE

2.7/5
Meh.

My favorite Kasie West book I’ve read so far.

Pivot Point was pretty good. My major problems with this book was how their powers displayed. I felt like the author made powers seem average at times making it feel like I was reading Contemporary.Because there was two different point of views I felt like we lost on a deeper connection to some characters, but at the same time I liked how they connected at the end. The ending was good enough for me to want to read the next one.

basically a 3.75 - so, so close to a 4

I really enjoyed the book and I fell in love with the characters. However, I did feel like the Compound was not described enough, along with its technology. It was hard for me to picture the Serbs that involved certain things from the Compound. But bedsides that I really enjoyed the story and will definitely read the next book (if there is one).

It's been a long time since a story has gripped me so tightly that I sat and read for hours straight. I ignored the growling of my stomach or the fact that the temperature dropped and I didn't feel like walking across the room to grab the closest blanket. That's how engulfed in this book I became.

Addie was someone I could relate to. I understood how she saw her self and how that impacted her interactions with others outside of her best friend Laila.

The entire time I was cheering on a specific Search that was happening and that's part of what kept me reading. The other part was the fact that there were so many things being revealed, her Searches were changing and evolving that I didn't want to stop the adventure. I wanted to keep going right along side Addie.

This was a great read and one I would recommend to my friends and family to check out. It's definitely one I would read over again.

This book was so much better than I expected it to be and I'm loving this whole picking up a random book and rolling with it thing I've been doing lately because this is yet another book that I fell in love with without knowing anything about it.

At first I wasn't too sure about it, but as the book kept going and the plots really began to flesh out, I found myself not being able to put it down. It was addicting in the best kind of way.

Can I also just say how much I really love the cover? It's kind of beautiful (okay more than just kind of) and I haven't loved a cover in YA fiction in awhile, so it's nice to really enjoy that aspect of a book again.

This plot and premise is awesome. The whole secret world with super power people? Awesome. And the characters are very cool. I love Addie and Laila, Addie being the bookish nerdy girl and Laila being the spunky BFF. The two lives that Addie lead sincerely made my heart hurt and I loved the characters we learned to love, especially Trevor.

I was always slightly suspicious of Duke, as charming as he was I could definitely feel something brewing with him. Trevor was completely precious, no doubt about it. At first I actually found myself charmed and really loving the dynamic between Duke and Addie. But Trevor won my heart soon enough.

The only thing that really bothered me was the way that Addie decided to handle everything that she had learned. I'm sure there was something that she could have done rather than having Laila erase all of her memories. There was much heart break and things could have been solved much sooner if she talked with Laila and her dad. But then we wouldn't have a book series, would we? I'll just chalk it up to her overwhelming emotions leading to impulsive decisions.

Once again, I'm glad I picked up a book I knew nothing about because this one was really enjoyable. If you like a dash of science fiction with a contemporary feel, this is one that you have to pick up.

NECESITO SECUELA AHORA !

“One person can't change the future. Do you know how many people and things are involved in every major event that happens? Sure, you might be able to change some of the minor aspects of a day, but ultimately things that are going to happen, if you go along a certain path, do happen.”

tw: [sexual assault, murder]

So, since this duology is all i have left to be up to date with Kasie's books, I decided to give it a try. Everything I have read from her it's been fun, cute, a little cheesy sometimes, but I always had a good time reading them, but this time wasn't the case.

The story is about Addie, who lives in a little town where people have powers, but one day her parents tell her that they're going to get a divorce and she has to make a decision: go out of town with her father to the 'normal world' or stay with her mother. It should be a difficult decision for any teenager but or mc's power is when she faces a decision she can see how the different pats will go.

I found the world really interesting, but sadly it didn't delivered at all. I understand that Addie was a teenager and as one, she doesn't stop herself and ask how everything goes, but I can't help wanting more from it, I wanted to know more about how they get that powers, not just theories, I wanted to know more about how the Compound works. But all I get is teenagers bragging about their powers and their believe that they're superior to 'normal people'.

The plot at first was soooo slow, this book it's supposed to be scifi with a little mistery in it, but the first 50% of the book is pure contemporary, a genre that I usually like, but I was expecting something I didn't get until the 50% of the book. And to be honest, it was a bad contemporary for me: Addie is such a plain girl, who thinks that no one will ever notice her, but in the book there's like three guys who notice her and tell her that she's so special and amazing and unique and bla bla bla your typical ya white girl. In one path Addie fall in love with your typical popular and mean guy who everybody loves but her, but lately he's so soft with her, who can't she resist that, right? and in the other path she fall in love with the mysterious guy, who is secretly a nerd and is the only one who understand her.

The plot was interesting in the end, I know it's because partly I've barely read mistery books so I can be surprised easily, but I think that if that's your genre, you won't get anything from this book. Also there's so much sexism between the pages that goes like nothing (like Addie's best friend telling her that she should go with the hot guy even if he's mean to her because well, he's hot), and I think that this book could have discussed sexual assault more deeply, but it's barely discussed, just one chapter, and time from time it's even taken as something light. Disgusting.

Honestly, if you want to read something from Kasie West I would totally recommend By Your Side, Lucky in Love ans P.S. I Like You (my personal favorite) and I would skip this one and pretend it doesn't exist.

GUYS! WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME?!?!

I'm pretty sure I had this book at one point and gave it away. Why? Why? Why??? I really didn't know what to expect when I started reading it, and the beginning seemed cute, but simple. But, guys, I couldn't stop! I was up until 3AM reading this book because I made the mistake of starting it in the evening.

For those who don't know, Addie Coleman is a Searcher, which basically means that when she has a decision to make, she can Search both choices to see which ends up the best for her. Each chapter goes back and forth between her choices (whether to live with her mom with the other gifteds, or move with her dad to live in the normal world), where she develops friendships, and romances with the different people she encounters. As we follow her lives, things start to get a little strange, and just when you think you know which path Addie should take, you realize you might have made a terrible decision. I loved everything about this book. Sure, you could probably nit-pick it apart (kind-of similar to time travel books), but if you just go with it, you will find yourself lost in this incredible story. It's funny, sweet, exciting, imaginative, disconcerting, and sometimes heart-breaking, but always completely fantastic.

If you haven't read this one yet, YOU MUST!! And even though it could totally be a stand-alone, the sequel, SPLIT SECOND, is coming out soon (and I hear it's every bit as awesome)!!
