My thoughts
Expectations: Although there was great excitement for this title months before the release date I still wasn’t that intrigued to read it. The reviews that started to pop up hinted of 2 guys and one girl and I’m sick of most love triangles. That disgust is in fact the main reason why I did not want to read it. WHY did I act so freakin’ stupid?
Cover : It is an interesting cover were the same girl stares at her reflection as if it were a mirror. And if you can say it’s similar to a mirror the shimmering particles could represent glass of a just recently shaken up life, both possible lives. Maybe I’m over thinking but when I read the synopsis that’s what comes to mind when I see the cover.
Book: There have been titles in adult and young adult fiction, in which paranormal beings are presented, that are able to do amazing mental feats for example telekinesis and seeing the future. I liked how Miss West tweaked it to where it became a secluded society were people’s mind excelled the rest of humanity or in their term Norms. The powers are more scientifically explained than just let’s give them powers without a reason how they got them. Some books do that very same thing ‘the not explaining’. The not explaining is a pet peeve of mine. Addie Coleman can see in the future but not the way that is often perceived as cliché. She can see her own future and no one else’s and only when she wants the see the cause of actions she could take. The process of seeing it called the Search. So it is like being at a crossroad and seeing both paths of your life from that point on. Her parents announce they are getting a divorce and she must pick a parent to live with. In both possible future lives she will encounter love and loss, Addie must decide which one it will be.
Kasie West writes in a way you want to read everything she writes even her grocery store list. I meant that jokingly. Her writing is not super prosy or poetic but it lures you in. I don’t know how to explain it but it just fun to read. For me at least I loved how multiple moments in each possible life connected each other but from different vantage points. For example were Addie meets someone who is in fact very important in the novel and in each possible life, she learns his secret and further in the story she discovers the same secret in a different way altogether in another possible life. When the intense parts come around you begin to beg that nothing horrible happens to some of the characters you’ve come to love. In the end you feel some empathy to a person that manipulated her emotions to that particular person. And also saddened that the relationship with another person in, I have come to love, will be different than the one in the search. Secondly what I found unique is how Miss West at the start of every chapter gave it a title. Naming a chapter is often done but the title is a vocabulary explanation from a dictionary.
The characters are very enjoyable in this novel. I will only mention a few that cannot make me verge over the edge of Spoilerlandia.
Addie Coleman is the girl that’s always meticulous. For example she copies her study material from the school computer in case of a power outage which has not happened in 20 or more years in the compound. She is very kind but wants to remain in the background. A cool gal to gang around with.but she is very loud and exact opposite of Addie. How they became friends cute. I read somewhere that in the sequel there will be chapters from her point of view.
There are parents present in Pivot point. They appear often and I’m glad that they aren’t parents that are just characters for plot purposes. Addie’s parents are good people and parents who are noticeable in the novel. It is sad that they have problems but relationship problems happen in real life and gives it a more realistic touch.
There is a kind of a love triangle. But how is handled is to be admired. There is a romantic interest in each possible life and remember the opposite boys don’t know of each other because nothing in the search has happened yet. In each life the romance is at the beginning stage. It is attraction and liking each other but not actual love yet. Also in both cases Addie does not fall head over heal it is a slow going process that could have been real and only one of those romance will be real. At the end of the novel you find out what path she picks and the loss with it. The end has influences the romance that existed and the one that did not
I’m happy I entered the giveaway at Cuddlebuggery.com and that I won. Otherwise it could be a possibility that I would never want to read it. I wonder what will cause the Search in the sequel. Pivot point is a book where a teenage girl must pick a path at the middle of a crossroad. The choices we make in the past define us in the future.

This book is just awesome, I loved that it showed us what happened in the two futures, the characters are fenomenal (there were some things that I didn't agree with, but in the end I could see why they made those choices) and Trevor, best guy ever, I fell in love with him as the story went by and I'm so curious to know what will happen in the second book.
Thank you so much Oda Renate for this wonderfull recommendation, you were right I loved this book a lot :)

I love the characters. Trevor, one of the best YA protagonist characters, and Laila is the best best friend material. Addie herself is quite likable and relatable.I like the way the story is narrated, giving out clues about the two alternate lives that Addie is Searching. One chapter is about her life with her father in the normal world, where she is bound under an oath of secrecy to keep her identity to herself, joins the Norm school, and meets the Trevor and his group of friends. And the next chapter is about her life with her mother in the very familiar Lincoln High and her rendezvous with Duke, the Mr. Popular of their school. But both the Searches feel so real to her that she actually believes she’s living it. A Search within a Search is not possible, and that’s when Addie realizes she’s in a Search and is not actually living her life as she sees it.
There’s ample mystery towards the end to keep the reader’s interest. The notion of a Search within a Search can be related to that of ‘Inception’- a dream within a dream within a dream, and no way to tell the difference. And the idea of projecting to the future is like that of the Precogs in ‘Minority Report’. But still I’d say the story is very original in it’s concept, among the YA books of Paranormal genre flooding the market.

I can't find fault with this book. It ripped my heart in a thousand pieces. I sobbed, I laughed and this book warmed my heart. It took a little while for me to get in to this. When I did, I couldn't put it down anymore. There were twists in this book I really didn't see coming. This surprised me so much. Pivot Point will have me thinking for days, if not weeks. The sequel is all I need right now.
Thank you for this wonderful book I so needed so badly right now.

I loved this book! I read this on a coach and oh my god it was fabulous. I loved seeing her ability and seeing the consequences of it. I loved seeing the different paths and the end left me heartbroken about the path she chose but I understand why. Trevor was amazing and I loved him as well as the main character. She was a strong female lead which I loved. Picking up the sequel immediately
Read the book in one sitting. Easy read, and enjoyable. Interesting concept where the lead character (Addie) can, given any choice in life, look ahead in the future in both directions. Loved the way the book was written, alternating chapters between the two possible realities.
Perhaps a bit too much high-school drama for my nearly-thirty taste, but it came round with a pretty serious punch at the end. I would like to see the series develop into more than boys, football... well... maybe just a bit more crime. But then again, I'm a sucker for a mystery novel, and which choice Addie was going to make between the two compelling timelines was a new and intriguing style of mystery. I will certainly read the next book in the series.

Kasie West proves she is great a telling stories in this first book in a compelling series. Pivot Point follows Addison Coleman as she is forced to decide which parent to live with when they shock her with news of their divorce. She is lucky in that she has the ability to Search, she can play out both sides of an either or decision to decide which one is best. It's amazing.
But she is part of a society that is full of people with special powers, their minds are able to control different things. IT's quite spectacular, and reminded me of the X-men.
While Addison tries to decide which parent to live she discovers just how far she is willing to go to keep her best friend, and how it feels to fall in love for the first time.
This book is founded on the classic coming of age story with the added twist of the supernatural mind powers of the society. It's more compelling than expected. I had to read Split Second, the sequel as soon as I was finished.

Synopsis (from goodreads)
Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.
In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through... and who she can’t live without.

Review:
WOW, this was honestly a great book. It was just there was a lot of grammar corrections that needed to happen and sentence structures that needed to change in the first couple of chapters. I even questioned myself if I bought an ARC, but I couldn't have as this book was bought at a bookstore. I also didn't know which genre this book fell into as it was more of a middle grade kind of style of writing than a high school (young adult) kind. But that just me... anyways, let's get down to the nitty gritty.
I have no grudge against the writing of the book, it's just, the whole time I was reading it, I thought that it could have been improved, to be more interesting, more captivating, because it was a book that I could put down and just forget about. (Which I did, that's why this review is really late). It was really hard for me to rate this book with it being potentially a 4 star book or a 3 star book, but I decided with an in between rate, because my feelings toward the book were, well, undoubtedly in the middle.
I honestly loved this book though. It's told in two realities in each chapter, with every chapter forcing you to read the next, because you want, no need to find out wants next. Addie is a beautifully written character and so is her bestfriend, Laila. I could totally see these two people being best friends. But I must admit, Addie annoyed me sometimes. Dukes character is written perfectly too, for a witty (rich) quarterback who the whole town knows. Well the whole compound.
From the very beginning, I was team Trevor and I'm glad I was. Addie's relationship with Trevor is so innocent and so cute, I had so many fangirl moments because of it. I thought it was so evil (-ly smart) when parts of the book you knew things were gonna happen between the two were cut short and a new chapter began. It just made you want more.
"She loves to read, Mom. Like these really old, boring books. The ones Dad likes." He points to the graphic novel on his desk. "Plus lame ones, like I do. And she's not a huge football fan. I think she only tolerates it for our sake. She's supersmart, my main competition in Government. And since coming into my room, she has probably had to stop herself several times from cleaning up the shoes spilling out of my closet."
Like how could you not want more than that ^^. A boy knowing you, stripped away from your abilities and defining you how you define yourself. Trevor was amazing. It sucked that the book had more of Duke than Trevor, like shove over Duke and let Addie live her life with this incredible senior.
"In the six years I've had this ability, nobody has ever asked me that question. Nobody has ever thought they were negotiable." (Addie says)
He takes a deep breath. "I want you to choose me, Addie," he whispers. "I want this to be real."
And there we have it folks, a robbery has been conducted, reward for those who find my heart.
Trevor is honestly the star of this book, he shows Addie what 'Norm' people are, human. They are human, they do everything people in the compound do, just minus the special enhanced mind abilities.
The ending of the book let it down though, hence my mixed emotions toward the book. The last couple of chapters felt so, "rushed". The ending sucked full stop. I wanted more. The romance basically took over the actual crime within the book. It wasn't even into detail. But yeah, I'll talk about this in more detail in my spoilers section. So for those who'd like to read this book without me killing and ruining it for you, don't scroll down any further.

HELLO! I guess you've read the book already ? that's why you're here ? or you just want to find out more and the plot twists within the book. Well you've done the right thing and scrolled down. *HIGH FIVE*
So this spoiler section will be in no particular order, just me spitting out stuff that should have been more developed and a couple of unanswered questions.
So the girls who were murdered ? Who were they ? I know at the end we find out that one was persuasive. But what other powers did the other girls have ?
But MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHY DID BOBBY KILL THOSE GIRLS? I know to enhance and gain new powers but WHAT FOR? WORLD DOMINATION? We never really get told. Like why Bobby, Why ?
Ok, now this Mr Paxton dude, the Poison dude, who we thought was evil. But was never evil ? I have so many mixed emotions towards him. WE ALSO DON'T FIND OUT HIS POWERS. What are they ? Tell me. Also, how much did Laila's father owe him ? I mean, I don't mind not knowing that, but if we knew the amount, I think something could have been done.
Now Duke. WHAT THE HELL DUKE!! Like, why did you use our Addie ? Why ? (Rhetorical Questions) She had feelings man. You can't use girls like that just to benefit yourself man. Not on. Also, the part where Laila sneaks into Dukes home without Addie's knowledge... Did that mean Duke was cheating ? I didn't really get that scenario.
Also, why did she chose to erase both paths ? Why ? And in the end, did she get the note from Laila ? And regain her memory ? I also don't get the last sentences on the last page, like is Trevor just being cute with her, or is he on one knee, the one knee, that you kneel on to propose ? I'm confused man, That's why the ending was really bad. There were so many unanswered questions. Too many for my liking. But yeah, help me answer these questions or do you have your own theories ? comment below xxx

I love Kasie West and was really excited to read a paranormal by her. The concept was quite interesting and I throughly enjoyed the journey through the two possible paths as Addie did her "search". I am eager to read the next book in this series.
