I enjoyed this read, but the author’s opinions on the LGBT community and women have unfortunately led to me giving a lower rating.
Classic sci-fi for a reason, but the authors a pedo and bigot so it’s tainted for me lmao. The “I Believe I Can Fly” of science fiction.
This is so boy-coded. The parts that saved it for me were Locke vs Demosthenes and the epilogue. Possibly the parts that everyone else found boring.

This is the book Brian picked for our road trip. He had read it before, but this was my first time.
This book reminded me of Artemis Fowl, Top Gun, and "Skyward" by Brandon Sanderson. I wonder how much inspiration Sanderson got from this book for his book because there were so many similarities. But I liked "Skyward" better. This seemed like a "boy" book, or at least geared for boys to enjoy with the potty humor, battles, etc.
All in all, I'm glad I read it because it is a sci-fi classic, but sci-fi still isn't my favorite genre and it takes a special book for me to really enjoy sci-fi.

To really enjoy this book, one definitely has to think like a Boomer-generation Mormon guy, so be warned that Ender's Game is probably best read by angry little gamer dudes.
AWESOME book. One of the best sci-fi/fantasy books I have ever read. So intriguing. Everyone should read it.
