The second book in the series just feels like a filler. It was not fun to read sadly.

Feel like this was a good redemption arc for Rin. Aside from the red redemption it was just pure war the entire time. Battle strategy, war time, gruesome consequences. A lot of character development for the main character and a deeper understanding of the history of the empress. Rin has terrible taste in guys. Looking forward to the next book to see how the trilogy ends

And FUCK the last 50 pages of this book holy hell.

Rin suffers so much it’s sometimes unbearable but man do I love her journey and the development of her character. She reminds me of Robin from Babel so I have nothing but love for her she’s very dear to me.

There was so many directional twists in the story that never made it feel boring which I really appreciate. The characters and their dynamics were also fluid and developing.

I loved Nezha’s complexity in this book because I’m not gonna lie I don’t really know where I stand with him and how I feel about him because I feel like I’m missing something major about him… a truth of sorts…

Kitay and Venka are so dear to me, and RIP the cike because their deaths were the hardest thing to read in the whole book.

Utterly terrified for the next book!
