🚀 The Book in 3

Wikipedia plot summary is very good.

🎨 Impressions

I love how multiple story lines tie together ("real world" and sea of stories) and the writing is really beautiful (which is probably something you can't appreciate as a kid) - the words really transport you to this magical place and you fall in love with it.

How I discovered it

Dad read it to me as a kid and was very disappointed that I didn't like it. Now I understand why.

Who should read it?

Thoroughly delightful! Haroun and the Sea of Stories reminds me a bit of Jules Feiffer's wonderful book [b:The Phantom Tollbooth|378|The Phantom Tollbooth|Norton Juster|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1438887022s/378.jpg|1782584] and, of course, Alice in Wonderland. . In all of these stories, a child is whisked away to new lands, accompanied by strange new friends who help them sort out the absurd situations they find themselves in.

Full of humour and drama and fantastical sights, Rushdie paints a whole new world that, while filled with the strange and the new, sets down what really matters to all of us, human child and Hoopoe bird alike. It's a beautiful adventure that shouldn't be missed.
