Whilst I love books with a dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship at the core, this book was a little too sparse and subtle for me. It focuses very much on the minutia of life, and touches on the lasting impact of trauma, but there was no real inciting incident, and overall it fell a little flat. I'm disappointed I didn't enjoy it more as the concept is good but the delivery just did not pique my interest.

This book hit closer to home than I would have liked. But the author is very good at the minutae of family interactions. Uncomfortably so at times!
