Wow! I’ve read so many WWII books and this one is nothing like the others. It so interesting to hear stories about WWII in different countries. This being based on a true story about Pino Lella’s life added another layer to an already powerful story.
I feel like most stories don’t focus much on the aftermath of the war and this one shows a lot of the devastation in Milan post war and the last few days of the nazi/facist reign

I wonderful story about love, loss, and horrors of war. Really is a truth is stranger than fiction type of book.
