I read 'Beneath a Scarlet Sky' by Mark T. Sullivan. I found it on a list of 25 best books for men. It's a non-fiction about a 17 yr old kid who risks his life avoiding Nazis in WW II, crossing the Alps in winter many times to help an underground railroad to get Jewish people out of Italy to safety of Switzerland. Then the book gets interesting.... Pino Lella becomes a driver for Adolf Hitler’s left hand in Italy, General Hans Leyers. What a great book! Maybe get a box of tissues handy. Highly recommended!

I finished this in a day. In a sea of WWII novels, this is a well written, fast paced, and unique perspective less covered.

I read the large print edition of this book and I had a hard time following it. My two star rating probably isn't fair, but the transitions from scene-to-scene just didn't work. I think it'd be better as an audiobook.

Gripping story, but clearly embellished and the writing was sub par

I have a hard time rating this considering it’s a true story, the same way i have a hard time rating a memoir. But when i think about the style of writing and story telling the author took, i was so enraptured by it. This was a buddy read and that was the only reason it took me so long to read. I would have devoured it if i was allowed. Constantly i had to remind myself that these were true events and real people, all during one of the darkest times in our existence. This story will stick with me for a long time
