ja, sie ist die Jungfräuliche, hat den Großteil ihres Lebens weggesperrt und mit vereinzelten sozialen Kontakten verbracht und entsprechend einfach keine Erfahrungen. Das ist nachvollziehbar und gehört einfach zu ihrer Person, aber man hätte das Buch um einiges kürzen können, wenn sie nicht ständig erwähnen müsste, wie unerfahren und jungfräulich sie ist
die letzten ~ 100 Seiten waren allerdings sehr angenehm zu lesen und ich hoffe, so geht es auch weiter

kleiner Rant:

Es stört mich massiv, dass es so dargestellt wird, dass Sex das Einzige ist, was ihr Kontrolle über ihr eigens Leben geben kann. Ihr war es genauso verboten rauszugehen und soziale Kontakte zu haben.
Genauso wie alles sexuelle schon wieder als pervers / unnatürlich dargestellt wird und alles möglichst blumig und wage beschrieben wird. Man kann Körperteile einfach beim Namen nennen. Sadismus an sich ist nicht das Problem, sondern wie er von entsprechenden Charakteren im Buch ausgelebt wird
Und nein, man bekommt keine Einstufung als divers, nur weil man bei drei (Neben!)Charakteren EXTRA erwähnst, dass sie eine andere Hautfarbe haben
Es ist auch nicht notwendig, das Rad neu zu erfinden.. Die Entstehungsgeschichten sind super in das World building eingebunden, es fühlt sich richtig natürlich an und dann kommst du um die Ecke mit "Wölfischen" und "Vampyren"? Das zieht es beim Lesen (für mich) einfach komplett ins Lächerliche, sorry
und wie kurzsichtig ist es bitte, alle Menschen auf maximal einen zeugungsfähigen Nachkommen zu beschränken, während das zweite Kind garantiert aufsteigt - sich also nicht vermehren kann, aber essen muss - und alles was danach kommt, noch als Baby zu töten? Heisst also die Nahrungsquelle nimmt mit jeder Generation ab, während die Verbraucher mehr werden. Super Idee

I'll start off by saying I figured out the path of Hawke/Cas pretty much as soon as he was introduced. That being said, the path the story took to confirm I was right was intense. Even though I was pretty confident in my assumption, parts of the book had me doubting whether that was the path we would end up on.

This book was addicting. One of those books that I want the series to be hundreds of books long and never end because I don't want to leave this world any time soon.

I LOVED Hawke/Cas and I swear if he and Poppy don't continue their angsty love affair, the world will never be right in my eyes. I am here for the brooding, dangerous, devoted love interest. And he just seems so yummy.

Jennifer needs to drop all other aspects of her life and devote every waking second to rapid fire publishing the rest of this series so I can continue to get my fix. She is definitely a new favorite author of mine, up there with Rowling and Maas.

Oh, my god. Oh, my god.
I truly believe that I might actually faint now.

To say that I like this book would be the most horrendous understatement. I devoured this book with all of my senses, letting the syllables cloud my mind and bringing me into a daze.

First and foremost, Hawke- or should i say Casteel? Heavens! Most definitely one of the most incredible development in a character that I have distinguished in a long time. Not to mention Penellaphe, or better yet Poppy.

But not only them, the other characters were mwah. Sweet Tawny, come on.

I had to close this book for at least thirty times, trying to catch a breath myself because sweet sins, the things that occurred there— whoosh. Hawke— Casteel had me all wobbly and enchanted. Making me wish I had a Dagger myself, ah. Snarky remarks kind of man, hm? We like that.

And the plot. The goddamn plot. How, how was it so good? One thing came crashing, okay. You can breathe now, Jennifer said, but then— Haha here, another turn! Not funny, not funny at all. I mean, and, I am going to end this review now, I am still a little dizzy from all of this and tired, so, heavens.
