This story really seemed so different to anything that I have read before but I can't quite work out why. The characters, Lilac La Roux and Major Tarver Merendsen, were interesting from the beginning and they changed so much throughout the story as anyone would going through that kind of situation. Their interactions were so believable and being the only survivors of a space ship crash, they didn't have much choice but to work together.
I found parts of the story scary (whispers.....) and I couldn't read it at night time and then by the time I was three quarters through it, I was so invested in the characters and the story that I knew I just had to keep reading. Great pace, and the intrigue kept me guessing throughout.

A good space setting story. I liked it. Will attempt to read the rest of the trilogy.

This book was absolutely beautiful. The words on the cover from Marie Lu at completely true; this books was so intense.

I fell in love with Tarver from the very beginning. I loved his personality and his looks and EVERYTHING.

It took me a little while to love Lilac.

But in the end, I loved the characters as strongly as they loved each other.

I loved how much they bonded on the planet. Their journey together was absolutely incredible.

I would definitely recommend this book to any fan of romance and sci-fi.

Shelfing atm.

Audio. I'm having a hard time choosing between 3 and 4 stars. Solid 3, potentially a 4, okay I'm changing it to a 4 because I'll continue the series.

Narration was fantastic, partly because I love Johnathan McClain and hes voiced other Kaufman novels (Illuminae, Aurora Burning), so I was warmed to the novel right off the bat.

The story was VERY character heavy... there were some definitely eyeroll moments and EVERYONE CAN SEE THIS RELATIONSHIP FROM A BILLION LIGHT YEARS AWAY, but that didnt make it feel any less genuine. The relationship between the to main characters developed naturally and at a good pace. It didn't feel forced (I think of the meme where the guy is smashing 2 bugs together and yelling, "NOW KISS!"), and their banter was funny and heartwarming.

The plot itself was very simple to follow and was a bit predictable, but I still enjoyed it. This was a good fluff novel.

Okay moving it back down to 3 stars because yes it was good but it wasnt 4 stars good. Sorry, authors. Know I struggled with it.

2.5|5 Stars

Hmmm... this was kind of underwhelming. I'm not really sure what I even expected. Well, I knew three things about this book before reading it: that is has an absolute beautiful cover, that the story takes place in space and that there's romance. And uh, that there's a lot of hype about this book, I guess. So, I was pretty suprised when I realised that it's basically a book about survival and... well, getting from point A to point B, which could have been an exciting premise if something actually had happened. I mean sure, there were these "whisper" things around, which WAS actually creepy and well done, but apart from that, the journey was a bit boring.

The characters were ... well, I dunno. At first, Lilac drove me crazy. She was seriously annoying. But after some more chapters she finally developed into a great character. I think I liked the scene in the wreck with her the most, where she was searching for supplies and trying to memorise all of the corridors. I would have shat my pants a long time ago since I'm super easily creeped out. :') Tarver, in comparison, was kind of flat and boring. I guess that's why the romance didn't really spark my interest and, considering that the book was pretty much about their romance, I ended up feeling detached from the pairing, the big “twist” and the happy (?) ending.

Also, the ending was kind of unsatisfying; you don't see how Traver meets his family again or how Lilac and Traver deal with their old lives. They are rescued, Lilac talks with her father and that's it.

Rcvd ARC from ALA

I liked this book quite a lot! Plus the cover is gorgeous! There was a lot of action (survivalist) and tension between the rich girl and the young soldier. Lilac was an interesting character, very smart and capable but out of her element after the crash. She didn't have as much back story revealed except more toward the end but I wonder how she grew up in such a sheltered, controlled life and didn't grow to be a spoiled brat.

Go! umarım ikinci kitabı çabuk çıkarır.

You know what? This book was good! I knew nothing about this series or book and saw it recommended in my goodreads. I read it all on a plane ride and it was very enjoyable!!

I'm a sucker for the ol' survival love story and this did not disappoint. Toss in some scifi and ambiguous YA styling and there you go! *claps hands* A decent book!

I'm on the fence with the rest of the series, considering that I can't imagine loving the characters more than these two, but I thought that about The Lunar Chronicles too and BOY WAS I WRONG.

Would totally recommend this for a speedy weekend read. The authors do a great job with science, not rushing, and world building. Enjoy!

All I remember is the lack of world-building ruining it for me...
