(I want to start off by saying English is not my first language, so there are definitely some spelling mistakes in this review.)
I don't really know what to say.
The storyline itself was great and I liked the idea of the virus. But I really didn't like the characters. They weren't particularly bad but something was missing. I have no idea what.
Also the cover is GORGEOUS.
The ending was...interesting. When I realised that this was the last page I genuinely thought I accidentally skipped pages or misread something.
I hate open endings so much.

I enjoyed reading this book but it was nothing super special.

Okay, so... This one is hard to rate. Because I love the horror elements, how the girls' bodies change, the gore and the confusion, and of course the queer rep. But of our two main characters, one of them was just... Awful. I couldn't get a handle on her - what she wanted, how she felt (it didn't help that I also didn't like the narrator for her sections of the audiobook). But she also was in this weird limbo; the story could easily have stood on its own without her (her sections are very short) and we didn't spend enough time to get to know her. But what we did see of the inside of her mind, I didn't like - so I'm torn as to whether I wanted to see more of her or less.

As for the other character... I loved the balance of guilt and pride and her desire for companionship and maybe something a little more. We got to see a nice balance of fear and horror and intimacy (not in terms of sex but of how people interact with each other). I also liked that she wasn't a leader and kept asking for help. But she was stubborn and capable.

I'm very excited to have an arc of Power's next book, Burn Our Bodies Down, because now I want to read more of her work!
