I INHALED this book. It is a slow burn that gave me heart palpitations the whole time, and Adam is in my top 5 fictional men. For me, the ending was disappointing. I felt like it ended abruptly, and I would have liked one more chapter. All in all, I loved the chemistry!

Well, this is the first romance book I've ever given 5 stars to, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this all the way through. This was my first Ali Hazelwood, and I instantly vibed with the setting, having gone to grad school in the life sciences myself a while back. The main character was intelligent and adorable, with a good supporting cast. The fake-dating premise was a bit ridiculous, but it worked for the story, and made for a fun read. Nice twist towards the end for a bit of drama. My only complaint was that the love interest was yet another chiseled meat mountain. I need to find one of these with some characters who maybe aren't movie star gorgeous, maybe a bit of flab, for the sake of realism :) I will read more from this author.

Ok…I’m gonna get a lot of hate for this… but this was one of the worst books I’ve ever read.

Granted, I know as a queer woman that I’m not the audience for it. But with that said, the spicy scenes were the best part about this book. Everything else was terrible.

The whole concept that the book is based on- Olive kissing a professor to make her best friend think that she’s over a guy she went on just a couple dates with- is so unrealistic. And for a book that I think prided itself on being a realistic portrayal of academia, this was really disappointing.

One of the biggest problems I had with this books is that Olive is written as asexual (the word is even used!) but instead of using positive asexual rep, the author chooses to talk about how Olive has “something wrong with my brain.” Definitely put a bad taste in my mouth.

Some sentences were so poorly written, I laughed out loud thinking “how did this get published?!”

This author should stick to erotica. And if she writes another rom com (I know she has but I don’t plan on reading them), maybe not try to fit in every trope while also *saying* you’re using those tropes?

Everything just fell flat. The storyline was promising but it just felt everywhere and everyone was so annoying.

Y’all this was the cheesiest, softest, trashiest romcom I’ve ever read. It combined every clichéd trope with SCIENCE ACADEMIA. What a time, 6/5 stars, zero criticisms

To be real, there is NO plot and ZERO character development. I can't recommend this to anyone in good faith, but I was the most entertained that I've ever been this whole year, so I loved it and that's ok
