What a disappointment!
To me, it felt like the story was just the background set for the mc to have sex again and again. Don't get me wrong, I love my smut but I love a good story too. The smut was there but a good/compelling story was missing. The romance went also from A to C without going through B and here it was a mistake because going first though B would have made more sense in this case. Like when the characters said "OMG I love him" and I was like "When, Bitch!?".
I honestly don't know if I'll read the sequels. I won't say I won't because mood reader's gonna do what mood reader does. So we'll see!

I have recently discovered author, Anna Fury. She has quickly become a favorite author of mine. This new spicy, retelling series with author, Amy Pennza is one to definitely pick up. There is so much goodness happening between Woton and Ryder.
I never knew how much I needed a gender reversal story until this book. Honestly, the heat that is coming from these pages could light a fire. Love the domineering charisma of Woton. Yet, Ryder is not to be discounted out even if he started out as a prisoner of Woton. I will not think of Little Red Riding Hood in the same light again thanks to Anna Fury and Amy Pennza.

To be honest, I only managed to finish this because the writing was simple and easy skim once I decided to check out, and I'm trying get a head star on my Goodreads reading challenge.
First, I didn't think Wotan and Ryder had any real chemistry. It takes more than a character telling me that the sex is hot in order for me to believe that they want to be with someone. Second, based on how Ryder narrated his experiences, it felt off to me that he was raped and sexually assaulted, reflected on the experiences has having been actually pleasurable, and developed feelings for his assailant. While I can suspend disbelief for dubious consent (or maybe negotiated non-consent in a D/s relationship?) leading to a relationship, I was unable to do so for non-consent.

I really liked the story as a loose retelling of the well known fairytale. It was original and fastpaced.
But...
The plot is so simple and weak. Little to no intrigue that is only teased.
I mean the guys are hot together, sometimes even sweet but there were so many dumb (read immature) choices and inconsistent moments (mentioned below later)...
The romance angst is not based on miscommunication but LACK of communication. Both MCs think they know that withdrawing a certain piece of information is for the better of the other. Like, come on. When they finally almost tell the truth to each other, they decide to fuck and not talk. So immature. I'd expect more from an immortal at least.
The inconsistency:
- Wotan seems to have a selective memory: "You crossed my Wood without asking" - Bitch, he literally came and asked for permission which you declined.

That was a fun read. The world building was definitely interesting and I'm all kinds of interested in seeing where the series goes. Ryder's grandmother felt very flat, though. Just a cardboard cutout of a villain. But I can forgive that because I enjoyed the tension between Ryder and Woton enough to blind me to any and all faults.
