It definitely builds on instalove, but if you can disregard that, this world in so awesome and well built. The characters are well crafted and funny and the dialogue is snappy. I listened in audio this time and it was so much more fun.

This was a funny quick read even if at times the sexual innuendos and overtones got to be a bit much. Because no doubt sex is what drives this book and that is not say it is a bad thing or it makes it a bad book. Just know going in that it is the sexual banter and tension back and forth between Remy and Ysabel that eventually blossoms into a romance of sorts (because there is also the whole Hell factor and that it is a witch and a demon). At times I wish there was more of a background to all the characters instead of the (pardon the pun) driving sexual nature of it all. Plus the confrontation was (again pardon the pun) very anti-climatic.

I did enjoy it don't get me wrong it just left me wanting more in terms of background, the development of the love between the two characters (because there was never a doubt of the attraction), and the final showdown. Although it could be thought of by the time it did happen it was no longer a big thing because Ysabel no longer really cared about the man who had once betrayed her. ^_^

A quick weekend read for when you want to stay in PJs, eat junk food, and veg all day!

Quick, hilarious and hot read! Welcome to Hell indeed *grins* the way Lucifer is described is so funny, and the way he is trying to be a match-maker is out of this world!

So in the beginning I was thinking this book was stupid. But honestly, it started to get really fun and I ended up really enjoying it! Unfortunately for me, I won't be reading book two until next year as there's a main character who's name begins with X and while it's not impossible to find a males name beginning with x it's definitely slim pickings on the books already on my TBR pile, so I'll just read all my other crap before continuing.

pretty cute. lucifer as a matchmaker? interesting spin. despite the head-over-heels love found within days and with just one screw.. it was still a pretty well-written story. predictable but enjoyable. might have to read more by ms langlais.

Being the Devil's Assistant leaves a lot to be desired, but the benefits outweigh the constant heat, innuendos, and whining...sort of. Enter Ysabel, a 500+ year old witch whose unfortunate burning at the stake gave the Lord of the Underworld an annoying assistant and five souls to torture. In exchange for Ysabel's service, those who orchestrated her burning faced the eternal torment of Hell. Which seemed like an okay deal until her ex-boyfriend and the others manage to get free. Forced to chase down and return their souls to Hell, Ysabel teams up with a lady-killer, hot as hell *wink wink* demon named Remy. Will she manage to withstand his sinfully good looks and charm, or will Ysabel fall for the demon who is determined to her his?

"A Demon and His Witch" is a pleasant enough read if you aren't looking for anything requiring attention to details. The characters have spunk and chemistry and there are plenty of great one-liners throughout the story, such as: "Then he kissed her, and by all the coals in the furnace of Hell, he'd never burned hotter." The premise behind the story is intriguing and the tiny tidbits of details about the greater community and inner-workings of Hell could vault the story onto a much greater level. However, the little bit of magic necessary to mix all of these elements together and make this story something I would recommend just were not met. While noting that the beings involved in the story were in Hell, the sexual elements of the story (being innuendos, harassment, etc) consumed most of the plot without really adding to the story. Some of the descriptions personally rubbed me the wrong way, such as Remy groping Ysabel when she is unconscious. Despite this, there are occasionally moments of really neat character interactions and development. These are simply overwhelmed by the almost repetitive sexual vibe of the story that does nothing to highlight the author or story's potential. I think this series could certainly develop into something that is unique and recommendable, but, right now, it personally lacks a lot of the key draws that make a story really compelling and enjoyable for me.

Pretty enjoyable. I liked the main couple, despite how annoying they could be at times. I also wished that it had been a tad less sexual. Every sentence had to do with giggling asses and rocking bodies. It got real old, real quick.

On the plus side, Lucifer was a bloody joy to read about and I’d like to learn more about Filipe.
