I absolutely loved this series. The magic, the layered (and flawed) characters, the relationships, the adventure…. All so good. VE Schwab knows how to make you feel things.

Because I listened to this right after the second book, some repetitive parts made the book feel longer than necessary, BUT I loved the story, the writing, and the overall feel of the book and series. I would totally recommend this to readers who love adventure, soft magic, gray characters, and little bits of romance.

Finishing up the Shades of Magic, and it's as good at the beginning as the end. This book had big shoes to fill after Shadows, and it does.
A great ending to a great series. It is definitely going into my top trilogies ever.
Every main character is cool in their own way and I am excited that there's another book after this. Hopefully, it'll become a trilogy as well.

In all fairness, I listened to this over the course of like 24 hours so I'm sure I missed minor details but that doesn't change the fact it was a little too long but still left no time to revisit certain plot points that just got kind of glossed over.

I also still hate Lila Bard.

I already bought The Fragile Threads of Power since I was SO convinced I'd love this series. We'll give it one more try before I give up on it completely since I love the concept of this world and most of its characters.
