This book was a bit slower than I wanted. It started off like a typical teen love story. About halfway, the story changed and became a great, intense, heavy story. Colleen Hoover never fails on her storytelling.

ETA: 2023 relisten. I don’t want to re-read or listen to books again anymore. How could I have given this book 5 stars five years ago? The toxic sexual situations of the main characters made my skin crawl. I absolutely get why CoHo’s books are coming under some fire. I think it’s important to talk about toxic situations and teenage relationships. I just wish that the author would have expressed that to their audience through these characters. Instead, incest and suicide become the backdrop for their sexual encounters, like they can just screw their way out of trauma. It’s a really unhealthy situation and I don’t like how it was romanticized in this book

No es que el libro sea malo, es solo que me desgastó emocionalmente de una forma brutal.
El principio me pareció eterno, lentísimo y con el horrible insta-love que tanto desprecio. ¿Sky no siente nada por nadie, pero llega este chico y de la nada solo podía pensar en quitarle la camisa? En mi opinión fue anticlimático, particularmente cuando se descubre que sucedió.
El romance no me convenció, y aún cuando se justificó no me gustaban juntos. Sky en general, simplemente no… no.
He descubierto que cuando Colleen escribe adolescentes, realmente las hace suuuuper inmaduras, lo que entiendo, vale. Ser adolescente es ser inmaduro, pero francamente disfruto más sus libros con protagonistas adultas. Y no sé si sea que estoy en esa etapa de mi vida o si realmente son tan irritantes las adolescentes en sus libros (war flashbacks de Regretting You, uhhhh).
Se nota muchísimo que es un libro ambientado en 2012, tiene toda la vibe. Al principio incluso parece un libro más de la adolescente única y diferente…
Lo que hizo que no viera venir ni por asomo todo el trauma que se cargaba esta historia.
Honestamente tiene tantos trigger warnings que es impresionante. I mean, es CH, ella no podía escribir una historia sin un protagonista sumamente traumado, ¿verdad? Y si no los quieren conocer, es a su criterio, pero siento que uno del que deben ser muy conscientes es este: Abuso sexual infantil.
Lo cual me lleva a algo importante: Este libro no debería ser YA, tiene escenas sexuales consensuadas y no consensuadas, narra cosas bien densas y si a mi, con 21 años, me dejó mal, ¿que le haría a alguien menor?
No me gustó como me dejó al final, me siento drenada emocionalmente y aunque sus otros libros son así, nunca me había sentido así. Ni con It Ends With Us, y ese sí que me quebró.
Probablemente lea el resto, pero la verdad es que lo estoy dudando mucho.

My first reaction after finishing 'Hopeless' by Colleen Hover was to check out her other books and buy them all! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there would be like a gazillion other novels by her in the future. Yes, her writing is phenomenal!
There is nothing I could say that would do this book justice! It was a brilliant read! The story was sweet, soul-stirring, heart-wrenching, devastating, hopeful... it was overall utter perfection!
Sky and Holder will forever be one of the best and most swoon-worthy romantic duos I've ever encountered on paper! They were truly born to be by each other's side. Their love made my heart sing, dance and burst with joy.
