Hopeless

Colleen Hoover

4.05 AVERAGE

A pretty decent YA novel in my opinion. The story is little out there at times and sometimes characters do not act in ways that seem true to their characters, but it was a fast read. I wondered immediately how Karen could be in her 30s and have adopted a child who is now 18 because I was pretty sure 25 year olds don't get to adopt...turns out I was right. It is pretty unbelievable that an 18 year old would recognize a girl he knew for a year when he was 6 thirteen years later, but whatever. It's a book. The writing was good at points, but terrible in others. Some of the descriptions were just trying to hard for me. And can we talk about the names for a second. Why could nobody have a normal name, seriously?!? Sky, Six (whose real name is Seven), Holder, Lesslie (that's how she spelled it), and Breckin. Really? Ugh. The worst.

Every CoHo book I read, I think it's the best yet. This one has for sure taken the cake. Just enough romance and crime and mystery to be exactly what I needed. 100/5 stars

This was really good. I just struggle with the ages of the main characters. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series!

I thought this was just going to be a sweet high school love story but Colleen Hoover did it again with the twists! Beautiful story of love, loss, trauma, and healing!

A very "grown up" kind of YA fiction that centres around a young woman named Skye, who, after being home-schooled, enters high school for her final year. There, due to other circumstances, she already has a reputation, leaving her ostracized and alone. Then, she meets, Holder, another outsider who seems to show up wherever she goes. Their romance takes off in a hurry, but there is something more to their relationship. Why does Skye keep having dreams of her past? How do Holder and his sister factor into a past she cannot remember? Twists and turns to this story made this a novel that was pretty compelling and I can totally understand why females, in particular, loved this book.
