Good grief… was this book a rollercoaster and unfortunately not in a good way. I know I said this the last review, but it’s time to return to fantasy…

I've tried writing this review several times and I keep delving way more into my personal life than I truly care to express on Goodreads, and that's because this book is directly tied to events of my childhood. It was tough to read, but it was good. There were several things I found issue with- how certain situations panned out that felt a little unrealistic to me, but that's because not every survivor's story is the same and so it's just that, my issue. I didn't really want to fault the author solely for that, but it played a major factor into my rating.

The characters were intriguing, and some of Sky's story resonated with me, so I was able to empathize with her on certain aspects. Holder was definitely something else entirely. I either wanted to junk-punch him for his crazy reactions or swoon in his arms. He had his flaws, which were big ones to me, and so that made it a little more difficult to like him in other instances. However, after Sky got to learn a little more about his story, I soon learned to love him and thought his layers and character held promise. I'm looking forward to seeing the book through his eyes.

This novel was one hell of an emotional roller-coaster, and the kissing and UST and banter were some of the best I've ever read.

*Sidenote:* I love this New Adult genre, but I really wish so many of them would quit relying as heavily on assault of all natures as a plot device. /endrant

C'était vraiment pas ouf

Colleen Hoover is amazing.... Loved this book. The story line kept me hooked the whole time. Can't wait for Holder's POV in Losing Hope!

I went into this book thinking it would be a nice contemporary romance to read after reading an emotionally heavy book. Boy was I wrong. It is more of a YA novel since the main characters are still in high school and has a tamer amount of steam because of it. But what I wasn't prepared for were all the hard topics that Colleen Hoover wrote the crap out of with ease. Unfortunately, I can't get into them without spoilers, but just know that it does contain triggers that won't be for everyone.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. I tried to go to bed last night with around 70 pages left and I ended up getting back up to finish it because I just couldn't sleep where I left off. I needed to know what happened and that everyone was okay. I'm really starting to appreciate Colleen Hoover's ability to write about the tough stuff and the steam while weaving it all together to give you a strong emotional connection to the story. Plus, she gave me two shocking twists that rival any of the thrillers I've been reading. If you're a fan of hers and still haven't read this one, definitely make sure you add it to your TBR. 4/5🌟

Reading this so late into my Colleen Hoover journey I feel like it’s not as good as her other books. It definitely shows an earlier writing style and more geared towards teens. Not bad at all but not my fav.

This may be my new favorite CoHo book. I couldn’t put it down and I just kept getting hit with plot twists. (Which is something I absolutely LOVE.)

4th time reading. I seem to re read once a year.

This is Book 29 of 30 for September participating in the Bookopoly Readathon

Wow. Just wow. Way to give me a huge gut punch. But holy crap how I loved the story.

3rd time read and I love it just as much as the 1st time

This book was really intense and really good. So much that I stayed up until the morning reading it. Also, extremely sad. Like I weeped sad but beautiful. It both showed the deep ugliness in human beings and the strong beauty in human beings. This also broke me out of my reading slump that ironically was set off by other sad beautiful books.

I definitely recommend but prepare to bawl your eyes out... A LOT.
