4.5 Such a fun read. I liked learning about audiobook recording. The romance was nice. I liked the friendship, the insight into Hollywood, the relationship with the grandma. It was just an all-around good story. And I always love hearing Julia Whelan narrate. Between this and My Oxford Year, I know she can write as well.

This was great from start to finish! I loved the real life issues that the characters dealt with in the midst of a slightly unrealistic romance coming together on the side. I’m also convinced that I’d listen to Julia Whelan read anything and enjoy it! Not only is she a fantastic narrator, she’s a fantastic author!

I loved how meta it was and that it gave an inside look to the audiobook industry. I actually liked the family elements and caring for a loved one and how hard it can be. The romance was fun as well and I liked the emails back and forth as well, it reminded me of an epistolary novel.

The Vegas scenes were perfect, and overall the story was enjoyable. It really dragged at the end, and felt a bit too long after they figure out the mistaken identities.

The audiobook was well-done, though all of the email and text exchanges really didn't translate well to audio. I enjoyed some of the accents, like Blah's and Stu's, but was kinda annoyed by the end with both the Brock and Nick voices, which I think added to the long drawn-out draggy feeling at the end.

I did really appreciate the author's note, especially getting more of Whelan's perspectives and experience in the audiobook world
