I love a story about a woman coming into herself. Regardless of how society views it. She has a lot of good points & some that I need to sit with and contemplate. We don’t have to agree with everything someone says to enjoy the story anyways. Will be checking out her podcast next.

To be honest I thought this was just alright - it very much reads as a book by an inspirational speaker and is a little too directed at white women for my tastes. There were definitely still parts I enjoyed, like Doyle’s interpretation of falling in love for the first time, struggles with parenting and co-parenting, and dealing with addiction and mental health. Overall an interesting life story for sure but did not hold my interest.

I like this book a lot and I really wanted to love it.
Thank you Glennon Doyle for having the courage to share with us and for never giving up on yourself.

Doyle is a hard narrator for me to dig into. She feels far too peppy for me and it made it hard for me to take her “you can do anything if you let go of societal expectations” talk seriously at the beginning of the book. It felt very White woman toxic positivity cult. But as the book went on, I grew to appreciate Doyle’s ability to admit her own faults and her willingness to pull other White women into the work of anti-racism and inclusion. Doyle isn’t my personal feminist savior, but I can see how she holds an important role in welcoming a population of women who are hesitant into the work.

This is a transformative book, from a woman to all women. It made me feel seen, understood and appreciated. It's a call to action. I loved it.

Wow! This is exactly what I needed to read in this stage in my life. I absolutely love the way Glennon frames all of these life lessons and advice in a way that is never judgmental or absolute. She writes as though she is speaking to a friend and truly wants the best for them. I got slightly worried when she started talking about religion but quickly realized that, as with everything else, the things you believe in and the identities you hold are yours only. There is no need to prove them to others or try and push others in the same direction. Overall, I adored this book and will be thinking about it for a long time.
