This is an impossible good to rate! I hate that Michelle McNamara spent so much of her life looking for this monster only to die only months before he was discovered. It's just not fair!
I will have to say that has nothing to do with my rating. I found the book to be too drawn out, and boring in many places. I do admire this author for her determination and tenacity!

Michelle’s book grabbed me by the hand and guided me through the dark streets and backyards of suburban neighbourhoods.
She states that she feels she has a “permanent scream lodged in her throat”. I feel that now too, a sort of quiet rage that she never got to know the face of the man that haunted her.
Overall, a beautiful book that floored and gripped me. Highly recommend.

Brilliant researching of such a horrifying and chilling life of crime. I’m saddened that Michelle did not live to see her book published, and also, the GSK arrested. It was particularly spooky to read about crime scenes so close to home - rancho Cordova and Carmichael, Folsom high school yearbooks. I am so impressed with the care and respect shown to the victims and their families. And I am certain this woman helped catch this bad guy.
