This was everything I wanted in a book for the beach!
Sage had an interesting backstory. It was a lot to resolve within a week though, making everything seem a bit rushed but also not fully fleshed out at the same time. And I find it hard to believe that Augie actually changed, again given that this all occurred over the span of not even a week.

DNF at about 30%…Belmont is so creepy and seems mentally ill. This gave me serious serial killer vibes, and the whole thing is so cringey. I read the first book in this series and it was definitely far fetched, but still good. I skipped to this book next because it was what was available at the library. It seemed like there was so much potential for Belmont and Sage in the first book, but this book made me really disgusted by both of them. I cannot even imagine if I had read 2 more books in between with them behaving this way.
The first time they hook up is in the shower and he is fully dressed including his boots? And he is going to go work in a mine in the same said boots the next day? lol what? Why? And Sage thinking that Belmont was “in pain” after they hooked up because they didn’t go further was just a bridge too far for me. The definition of the ick for me
