I'm a sucker for a good story about good triumphing over evil and this offers us the best kind of those stories. From Flycatcher's humble origins, to his rise as the incredibly honorable and true King Ambrose, this volume does not disappoint.
Typically, when I am up past my bedtime caught up in reading it is an intense novel, rather than a graphic novel, but this one pulled me in and wouldn't let go until I finished.
This volume focuses on Flycatcher/Ambrose, who has had the misfortune of remembering his past sadnesses. At first he struggles with his grief, but then he steps up to become a true hero. All of Fabletown is drawn into his story, as was I. Also, we see that Frau Totenkinder has made it her personal mission to oppose the Adversary.
The stories continue to captivate me.

I love this series mor with every book and to think I thought it might seem goofy with fairy tales in a modern world! I was so wrong! This is one of my top ten graphic series now!
I'm a biased little fangirl here. Fables AND Arthurian Legends AND The Frog Prince? Yes, sign me up, tie my down, keep it forever. I love, love, loved this storyline. I like how it worked. I like the cost, I like the sacrifices, I like what it was hinting at leading up to eventually.
(My only later sadness is how we never saw the culmination use of Gretel.)

Loved getting more about Fly!!
The war is coming. It is definitely coming and the Fables are getting ready for it. I hadn't realized before just how ruthless some of the characters could be, and I loved it. They all are really good at adapting with the times and situations. The coming volumes should be pretty interesting once the actual fighting starts, or the pieces are at least set into place.

This was a fun one. I always enjoy the Fables where one central story is focused on instead of a bunch of vignettes. Also like when we stick to mostly folks I know, which this story managed to do while still creating some fresh new storylines. I do miss a little bit of the smaller story arcs instead of giant world war, but I flew through this in a day and really enjoyed it.
My favorite of the series so far! I loved the Flycatcher/Ambrose storyline.
