First off, this remains one of my very favourite current graphic novel series and I rush out for every new trade. (I couldn't imagine trying to read it in individual issues and it's worth the wait.)
Volume 10 was no different and I'd eagerly been anticipating Flycatcher's story for a while. But for an issue that had the potential to be very dark... it all just got kind of fluffy. The story took a different turn than I expected, but I just maybe wanted a little more angst.
And I agree with the reviewer about Buckingham's art getting a little sloppy. Beast was unrecognisable compared to earlier issues and Ambrose looked like an entirely different person through the beginning and middle of the book.
As for the cubs' one-shot, it just seemed a little cut-off at the end and I'm not a great fan of that style of art.
All things said, not the greatest volume, but still adheres to the high quality at which Fables stands.

One of the best sequences of an already excellent series, as Flycatcher takes up Excalibur and becomes a king.

I really did not like the heavy Christian symbolism in here. Plus, I liked Flycatcher a lot more before his apotheosis.

I love Flycatcher. Also I definitely didn't cry. Not at all.
I really enjoyed this volume.
It was good to finally have Flycatcher step into the limelight an what a wonderful story! This is the first volume where it a actually feels like a fairly story, helped because if the fantastical nature of his adventure/trials and it being set in the Homelands. Throughout the series so far Flycatcher has been in the background and always dependable and now given the opportunity to take his place in the worlds was nice to see.
I can't help but feel that Volume 10: The Good Prince will be the calm before the storm!
