Too much plot to keep track of, just not in the mood for fantasy. Interesting characters and setting, I would recommend for fantasy readers!

2.5/5 stars

This book was cute and fun, but fairly predictable and I felt that the character development needed work. Additionally, to me it read more like middle grade fantasy than adult fantasy — this is the type of book I would have absolutely loved when I was in late elementary and middle school, but the story, writing, and characters definitely felt a bit juvenile for an adult book. All that said, it was not a bad book and was still a fun time, so I rounded up to 3 stars. It's a good recommendation for anyone seeking out something more reminiscent of middle grade fantasy.

This book was meh. I like the character growth and having a male lead who’s portrayed as cowardly. Things were just slow and not very exciting to read. I had a hard time following along with descriptions and the writing so I couldn’t imagine a lot. None of the plot twists were surprising. I also would’ve really loved more romance than what we got

I enjoyed the middle eastern world building and aesthetic and I’d read the next book to see what happens🤷🏻‍♀️
