Good thriller and crime mystery. A bit disapointed byt the ending where we don’t get to have a conversation with the serial killer, only a retelling from Wallander. A few leads are kind of left unsolved. (the teenagers were part of a cult, Svedberg was homosexual and blackmailed for his relationships, why did the killer do it, etc.)

I don’t read these often and in no particular order. They are well written and plotted and you feel you know more than the police which works.

This one is a stunner.
This series and Mankell's writing are always top shelf but this one is over the top excellent.
The quick pace and the way Wallander's mind works is a joy to read.
Working with is team is practically seamless and fun to read.

Twists and turns and U turns make this a I can't put this down kinda book.
Best by far.

I liked this but the versions of Wallander escapades available to watch on video or film are good enough to allow me to enjoy and leave time for reading other books. I like the fact that Wallander is so human and completely opposite of so many tough super detectives. He struggles physically and emotionally with a multitude of crosses to bear. I'm sure the entire series is worth the time but the episodes I've streamed on Netflix are good enough for my taste. If they were not available, I'm sure I'd read the entire Wallander series. Top notch entertainment. I like the way Mankell's mysteries start quickly so if you are the type who hates to read 100 pages just for the book to take off, these books are for you.
