So far this is pretty good! This first volume is definitely setting up a slow burn, so there isn’t much development between the two MCs, and there hasn’t been much development from the female MC’s perspective (yet). I chose this for an A-Z challenge, but I enjoy it enough to continue the series!
Should also note that so far I like how the female characters are portrayed! Chinatsu has a strong personality and doesn’t fall into cheesy, damsel stereotypes as the love interest. She’s very inspiring for younger readers!

This was cute and sweet - felt very much like a setup for future plot points with the goal of making it to Nationals for both our MCs and (hopefully not) a love triangle. I'm not much for sports/athletics in books but I did like the variety we saw between cast members - badminton, basketball, and gymnastics - and the drive the kids have felt very high school (in a good way). While not my typical genre of manga, I'm still interested to see where the story goes and how/if feelings develop between the two MCs.

I loved the characters, teenagers in sports, especially individual ones like badminton and gymnastics being shown, with girls being prominent athletes too. I thought at first that the main lead, Inomata Tsuki, was a bit over-the-top and irritating, but he kept improving as I kept reading. Chinatsu seems like a very straightforward girl, but Hina is hilarious and interesting. The art was also beautiful, especially the shots of badminton and the park 2 page spread. It's a more realistic style, I feel, though I'm not very good at understanding much about art. I still enjoyed it a lot, so definitely going to keep reading.
Starting watching the anime as its recently released and instantly knew I had to try the manga as I just had to know where this story was going and didn't want to have to wait a week for the next episode. It's safe to say I'm in for the long run with this. The characters are so far so loveable and I can't wait to see where Taiki and Chinatsu's relationship goes.
Really disliked the mc at first but his earnestness and sincerity won me over. I really enjoy the way the story frames love and the marriage between typical romance and shonen tropes. Very satisfying as both a romance and a sports(battle) story.

It's kind of hard to formulate how I feel about this series... there are a lot of things I really like but then they're paired with so many really generic & hollow feeling plot beats.
I like:
- the sports elements in general. always love sports manga but the format makes solo sports like badminton a lot harder to do, the fact that blue box is mostly a romance instead & the whole sports school set up works really well actually! And I like a series about two characters cheering each other on
- the characters! I like all of them, they're really sweet & serious & hardworking for this passions and I love that for them
- the art is lovely, esp the detailed bgs <3

Things I don't like as much:
- just in general the 'two high schoolers suddenly start living together' trope is really not my thing. though how underutilized it actually is in this series makes me wonder if the author wanted to have it at all or if the editor forced it on them... in general I want to attribute the writing I like to the author and the stuff I don't care as much for to editing and wonder if this would be a way better series if it wasn't published in jump, but who knows, it could be completely the other way around or not that kind of split between editor and author at all.
- sooo much of the romance and love triangle feels very generic & not built up on. there are some moments that I think are really nice but then they seem to have no lasting impact or personality beyond 'these are the plot beats we need to hit in a romance series'. The romance doesn't feel personal to the characters.
All in all it's a mixed bag... none of these +s and -s really cancel each other out so I can't say this series is neutral... it's just. somewhere. Combined with the fact that it's a high school romance which I'm not really into lately I think I won't keep reading it
Already saw the manga so it’s nothing new for me anymore, but really sweet and motivating!
